Meet the Team...
Founder of Unique Home Stays, Sarah puts the ‘m’ in multitasking. With a background in farming, Sarah spent a good few years travelling the world before settling in Australia for 12 years. She returned to her beloved Cornwall in 2000 with the seed of an idea for a luxury holiday company. Sarah launched Unique Home Stays identifying a niche in the market for exclusive holidays and began the task of nurturing the business from her living room – also juggling a day-job and the demands of three then young children – Morgane, Josh and Bryce. Possessing a wealth of knowledge and understanding on anything to do with luxury holiday markets, Sarah is not one to rest on her laurels and constantly explores new ideas to drive the company forward. Renowned for hatching a new idea a day, Sarah’s enthusiasm, unbounded zeal and passion for the company is contagious!
Originally from Norfolk, Jim took the long road to Cornwall via Scotland, Northumberland, Essex and Buckinghamshire before the lure of rugged countryside, Cornish Zephyrs and tumbling skies brought him and family to the county fulltime. Before joining the team at Unique Home Stays, Jim served with the Royal Air Force, he has also worked as a production planner, data analyst, researcher and project manager as well as a plant surveyor! A calming influence in the Unique Home Stays hub, when not in the office Jim’s a bit of a fresh air enthusiast and can often be found exploring the county camera in hand. Jim’s passions are many and varied, but include geocaching, real beer and folk rock and when the Cornish winter descends, he’ll be found in front of the fire with a good book. Great with analysis, explanations, figures, contracts and legal issues, Jim aspires to the role of Company Sports Prevention Officer - purely on the grounds of health and safety of course!

Francesca graduated from Cardiff University in 2011 with a BA (Hons) in Communications and moved back to Cornwall to be by the sea, where she worked as an Interactive Media Consultant at local radio station Pirate FM. As well as working for the fast-paced sales team, she also helped out with events and even voiced some of those cheesy commercials! Francesca loves all things 'art and design' and always has a creative project on the go, whether it be a seaside oil painting or a new design for her bespoke stationary collection. When she’s not designing/ studying towards her Level 4 Marketing/ working on the mammoth Unique Home Stays marketing task, Francesca enjoys long days at the beach and as dedicated sun worshiper, some of her favourite holiday destinations include France, Australia and Sri Lanka.
Adventurer Emma has returned back to the Unique Home Stays team after travelling the globe for the last three years. From volunteering with children in Africa to working on the coast of Australia, Emma has enjoyed an exciting and educational few years but she’s very happy to be back where she belongs. Emma is currently assisting with the fast-paced Marketing team, and her vast experience with the company along with degree studies in Property Design and Architecture means she is a great all-rounder. A housewife at heart, if she’s not decorating at home you’ll find Emma in the kitchen whipping up some gluten free delights for everyone in the office to share (her carrot cake puts Mary Berry to shame!).

Lucy grew up in the fresh air and green dales of North Yorkshire and enjoyed the stylish offerings of Harrogate before she and husband Neil, tempted by the sun, sand and surf of the Cornish coastline, moved here some years ago where they now enjoy a more relaxed way of life by the sea. Lucy has had a varied career, although predominately specialising in sales and accounts management. After a number of years with Unique Home Stays and with a keen eye for accuracy, Lucy now looks after the administration of accounts and payments for Unique Home Stays Owners and Clients and can handle any payment queries that might arise. When not making payments or answering questions, Lucy is often found juggling buggies and bottles for her daughter Amelie.

Originally from London, Vicky graduated from Swansea University with a degree in Classical Civilisation and English Literature before the lure of fresh countryside living drew her to Cornwall. A self-confessed bookworm, Vicky loves curling up with a good book and losing herself immersed in the literary classics. With a thirst for adventure, Vicky is a keen skier and loves nothing more than hitting the slopes whenever time out from her busy life allows.
Growing up in a family within the building and decorating industry, Clare has always had a passion for property and is particularly fond of Georgian architecture. She has gained CeMAP certificates in Mortgage and Advice Practice as well as Regulated Equity Release, to enhance her NFOPP qualifications in The Sale of Residential Property and Property Management Lettings. For 14 years, Clare has worked in the financial services sector where she has accumulated extensive experience with homeowners, meaning she’s perfectly placed for liaising with our owners and finding beautiful new properties to join the unique portfolio! Epicure Clare likes the finer things in life and as a worldwide globetrotter she has eaten at some of the world’s top dining destinations. When she’s not updating her wine collection, Clare enjoys a spot of golf or boating along the creek to keep her fit. Clare has always been drawn towards the Italian way of life and after some inspiring home stays in the ‘bel paese’, she has decided to further her studies and learn the Romance language herself.

Hailing from The Isles of Scilly, Charlotte now resides in Truro with her puppy Ted, but the archipelago just off the Southernwest tip of Cornwall will always hold a fond place in this proud Scillonian's heart. Charlotte achieved a degree in Social Policy at the University of Birmingham, before setting off on an adventure visiting New York, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. Fully embracing all that this beautiful corner of the world has to offer, Charlotte loves paddle-boarding up the river, stomping the rugged cliffpaths (with puppy in tow of course), shopping in the quirky boutiques in Truro, and has recently taken up surfing (she assures us practice makes perfect!).
Originally starting out in the world of luxury hotels, David worked his way up the in the heady world of hospitality; running top hotels and high-end restaurants in Jersey and Scotland, before the lure of life as a country squire took hold of him. David has worked with Sarah and Unique Home Stays since the business began over 10 years ago, and has remained a hugely supportive advocate of the company. He has recently joined the team here at Unique Home Stays to act as a highly experienced additional point of contact to enhance our working relationships with our property owners. With a zest for life and a penchant for fine wines and golf, David relishes the chance to meet with our property owners as much as they adore meeting him!
Property Advisor Supervisor
Northern lass Sarah moved from Cumbria to join the Unique Home Stays team here in North Cornwall. Having lived in Oxford, Norwich, York, Newcastle and Leeds throughout her career, she is certainly not new to relocation! Sarah has a degree in Visual Culture from Northumbria University in Newcastle where she took on a broad range of subjects including film, marketing and art & design, all of which she attributes to her keen eye for detail and love of the arts. She loves to travel and is passionate about music. Having travelled around Europe, Australia and America, Sarah says that it was the lure of the sunshine, beaches and laid back ‘Aussie-esque’ lifestyle that brought her to Cornwall. Sarah brings with her a great deal of professionalism and experience from her previous role in luxury holiday lettings in Cumbria.
Originally from Maidenhead, home counties girl Clare, migrated to Cornwall in 2007, drawn by the west winds, beautiful scenery, outdoor lifestyle and the cool Cornish vibe. A foodie at heart, if she’s not checking- out the numerous local eateries, Clare is probably whipping up a storm in the kitchen. Clare’s extra-culinary activities include cycling and beach-walking, Clare loves nothing more than throwing body-board, walking boots and dogs in the van of a weekend and sleeping under the stars with her boyfriend. With a background in administration, Clare’s an organisational whizz too and another font of Unique Home Stays property knowledge within the Property Advisor team.
Art enthusiast Sara has used her passion for printmaking to take her across the world; studying in Cheltenham, New Zealand, Ireland and Australia. Finally settling back with her friends and family in Cornwall, Sara has converted her flat into an art studio where she stays up until the early hours getting messy. When she can prise herself away from her etching press, this country girl loves nothing more than the great outdoors, whether it be a cycle through the woods or a sea swim at sundown (as long as it’s not jelly fish season!). After three years working as a supervisor at a large surf store, Sara has excellent customer service skills and would be the best person to advise on all the secret surf spots in Cornwall for any guests wanting an adrenaline-filled break in the South West.
With a surname like that there's no denying that Cornish maid Kelly is as 'kernow' as they come. Born and raised on her family's farm just outside of Newquay, equestrian-lover Kelly is happiest when competing and show jumping with her loyal horse Lily, or walking with her dog Izzy and boyfriend Ryan in tow. Kelly is a passionate supporter of her boyfriend’s football team Godolphin Atlantic FC, and can be seen (and heard) on the sidelines on Saturday afternoons willing the team to score goals and remain high in the league tables. Kelly has several strings to her bow, including hairdressing, bar tending and travelling, but brings her keen attention to detail and organisational skills with her in her role as property advisor.
Self-confessed perfectionist and proclaimed king of tech-talk by all at Unique Home Stays, Dave is our IT systems consultant and guru. Raising the male compliment by 100% when he’s working in the office, Dave thanks his lucky stars that he’s not always in the same locale as all the girls. Meanwhile the girls see it as their duty to make Dave’s life as interesting as possible with a never-ending stream of suggestions for tweaks to the Unique Home Stays systems to improve efficiency! Dave has been developing the IT side of the company almost from the start. He designed and implemented our bespoke systems and is responsible for the on-going development of the website. His efforts ensure that we have a reliable, efficient, secure system that is not only capable of handling queries, bookings and payments 24/7 but that looks great and displays our properties to the fullest and best extent. During those rare moments that he manages to escape from in front of the computer, Dave can be found throwing caution to the wind snow-boarding, mountain biking, caving and hill walking or pursuing an altogether more leisurely in-depth, academic (really) study of the merits of various locally brewed delicacies!
Currenly enjoying maternity leave, globe-trotting Kahdine is a Cornish lass with a sense of adventure! Favourite destinations include those not on the usual tourist track: Indonesia, Bora Bora and Brazil among others and when she’s not globe-trotting, Kahdine is usually planning or talking about her next trip. Other times, Kahdine can be found mucking-out her menagerie on the farm – dogs, horses and prize hens all feature large in her day to day life outside work. Kahdine has also run the London Marathon but denies allegations that this was purely a training session for her shopping trips to the Capital! Prior to joining us here, Kahdine worked for seven years in the financial services industry.
Currently enjoying (!) a stint of maternity leave, Claire is a Media and Linguistics graduate who left Cardiff University to search those infamous golden pavements of London town. She started as a runner in a Post Production facility with special responsibility for polishing the Oscar once a week before reluctantly returning it to its case. Moving through the ranks, Claire worked at the Whitehouse film editing company in Soho for six years before the call of the sea and her lovely husband lured her back to the West Country. Claire loves Cornwall and enjoys walks on the beach, kayaking on a lazy summer's afternoon and cycling around Cornwall’s beautiful countryside. When not writing copy, pitching stories to editors and journalists and working on the Unique Home Stays marketing task, creative Claire also has a side line in making cushions, bunting, and anything else she can fashion out of a piece of quirky fabric.
The Office Cat
The only other full-time Unique Home Stays male member of staff, Ollie truly is the cool top-cat around town and has the girls in the office wrapped around his little claw. The king-pin of the office felines and master of all desktops that he surveys, the office simply would not be the same without him. Ollie arrived at Unique Home Stays unexpectedly, when as a kitten he was cruelly thrown from a passing car. After a period of R&R he recovered from this trauma to rise rapidly up through the ranks to become Sarah’s right-hand cat. When not attending meetings or inspecting work output and quality (usually, and amazingly with eyes closed from the lap of Claire or Jim). Ollie also tends to be found checking what is available on the lunch menu, sleeping in the warmest corner of the office or lording it above the feral kittens in the garden (Although much to Ollie’s disgust, these are not so feral any longer)! Ollie refuses to confirm or deny the rumour that he turned down the role of Puss in the new 'Puss in Boots' movies.
