Luxury self-catering accommodation in Mullion
This village at the gateway to Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula has steep hikes in and out of sandy coves along its dramatic coast, so pack your best walking boots.
Mullion is surrounded by hidden curves of sand along steep coastal tracks. Poldhu Cove is a delightful long stretch down to the sea that's perfect for windsurfers, rock-poolers and castle-builders. Polurrian is an amble away, again down a steep path but rewarding walkers with its sheltered waters. Hop in the car for a scenic spin down the coast to Kynance Cove, voted one of Britain’s most beautiful beaches, with its rocky outcrops and stunning turquoise seas. There's a café here serving refreshments as a reward for any who make the journey.
A short drive in the other direction, Porthleven is a fishing port with a long beach, an impressive Napoleonic harbour and eateries to suit all tastes. Rick Stein has a restaurant here and the Porthleven Food Festival with live bands, fairgrounds and gourmet demos attracts foodie crowds every year. Back in Mullion, pay a visit to the llamas in the field at the Chocolate Factory, which has a café and a collection of delicious treats to buy. Bag a bar of Trenance chocolate then scramble down to Mullion Cove to eat it at the harbour.
