The Oyster Shell is an architect-designed seaside retreat, combining modern luxuries with sheer elegance to offer families and design aficionados a stylish escape. Set in the fashionable maritime town of Whitstable in Kent, this luxury self-catering villa flaunts a contemporary steel and glass façade, framing far-reaching sea views which echo the opulent ocean-hued interiors within.
This luxury self-catering home stay was brought to life by local craftsmen in 2013; the spacious retreat boasts mod-cons throughout, with chalky grey and opulent turquoise interiors providing a calming ambiance. The seaside town of Whitstable sits on Kent's north coast, famous for its annual oyster festival where the community celebrates its heritage and bountiful oyster industry with nine days of merriment.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
The contemporary coastal-chic interior theme resonates throughout all three bedrooms; there is a double and twin bedroom on the ground floor each with glass doors leading onto the garden and a king-size bedroom upstairs boasting two wardrobes for those who like to bring an outfit for every occasion! Each bedroom benefits from its own en suite; two include a bathtub and luxurious rain shower, whilst the twin bedroom en suite is a Jack and Jill wet room with monsoon rain shower, also accessible from the hall. The study on the ground floor is transformed into a spacious fourth bedroom by a novel sliding wall, with a luxury fold out double bed and French doors leading onto the garden for midnight stargazing.
Nestled down a quiet road, The Oyster Shell is just a short walk from the beach. The enclosed lawn is perfect for a game of bowls, while the large terrace and balcony make idyllic arenas for alfresco suppers and late night card games. The impressive glass façade and folding doors lure you onto the sunny terrace to daydream by the infinity water feature and watch cloud formations turn crimson as the sun melts into the ocean.
While the day away with rambles around the pretty churches and beaches, or explore the quaint harbour town of Whitstable; discovering its quirky boutiques, Michelin-starred restaurants and hidden gem cafes- not forgetting to trial their famous oysters! With two lounge areas, after dusk guests can curl up with a favourite book by the log burner upstairs, or sip cocktails by the flickering inset gas fire downstairs.
The Oyster Shell is accessed by state-of-the-art electric gates, offering secure parking for one car outside the property and another two on the private driveway. This contemporary pad has mod cons peppered throughout, including a boiling hot water tap, dish washer, wine fridge, washing machine and dryer.

We built our own house to be a true "home from home" for guests to enjoy and explore the beach and local area. It´s the contemporary architecture bathed in light with plenty of space to relax, and the stunning sea sunset views that make this place quite unlike any other home in Whitstable.
