The Property

Large Country Manor House in Hay-on-Wye, Wales

Inside

This 15th century Hall House come Jacobean Manor has been sensitively restored to boast much of its original character. Kick back in eccentric luxury and enjoy large open fires, huge rooms and panoramic views of the Black Mountains and Wye Valley.

  • Style: Historic and eccentric, with quirky features such as a minstrels' gallery, a coffin bath, a bath tub made from a traditional wine vat and original artworks.
  • Bedrooms and Bathrooms: All six bedrooms can be found on the first floor of the property. Choose from bedroom 1's super king-sized bed with huge fireplace and boxed in bath with hand-crafted wooden lid, the Green Bedroom's double bed and beautiful views of the gardens or the Terracotta Room's king-sized bed which also enjoys view of the Wye Valley. Then there's the Pink Bedroom with king-sized bed, chaise longue and stone fireplace, the White Bedroom with double bed and farmland views, and the Yellow Bedroom with antique king-sized bed from which there’s a flight of steps to the kitchen. And if you're looking to soak your cares away, choose from ‘The Tubbery’ bathroom, where the bath is a great copper wine vat, or the Blue Bathroom where a deep antique bath takes centre stage. With all of these gorgeous bath tubs, there is no need for stand-up showers at Minstrels Manor (however there is one hand-held shower over the bath in the blue bathroom).
  • For relaxation: Through the oak panelled historic hall, with a flagstone floor, there is a magnificent panelled drawing room with a fantastic Renaissance fireplace and a minstrels' gallery. If you want to enjoy a little time to yourself, take a book into the snug, where large comfy sofas await you.
  • Practicalities: In the laundry room you’ll find a washing machine, tumble dryer and an outer boot room. Ample parking. We kindly request that stilettos are not worn indoors as they can damage the traditional wooden floors - please bring slippers or flat indoor shoes for wearing inside.

Outside

The manor is set in its own well-kept grounds and gardens (equipped with garden furniture and a barbecue). There is an array of old stone barns, a pair of charming stone towers and, in the middle of a field, the impressive remains of what was once the main entrance to the property. Surrounded by farmland, you’ll only have sheep for company at this property.
