A spacious two bedroom holiday cottage that combines characterful interiors with contemporary fixtures and fittings, this idyllic retreat is perfect for a romantic retreat, a getaway break or a family holiday

Whether snuggled up in front of the wood burner for cosy getaways for winter or heading out onto the private deck for an afternoon tea this is a pad for all seasons.
• For Recreation: Plenty to do if you love the outdoors, if you just want to stay in and relax help yourself to the selection of books, board games, DVDs and CDs at the property.

Outside

30 acres of your own private corner of the Dartmoor National Park to do as you wish. From an after dinner stroll to a summer picnic, an evening of champagne and nibbles in the bluebell woods to enjoying a Devonshire cream tea on your private deck, you need never start the car again once you have arrived. Please note, the cottage is located opposite the main farmhouse where the owner resides.

Food and Wine

• DIY: Taken on a self-catered basis, the open plan kitchen and living means you are able to socialize whilst creating a culinary extravaganza using local produce from nearby Moretonhampstead and the farmers markets too – Devon boasts some wonderful local food and drink
• In-house cuisine: Catering is available at an additional cost and is to be arranged direct with the caterers. We are able to provide you with contacts for recommended caterers on request.

Getting there

• On the map: Located up a private country lane, yet within half an hour of Junction 31 on the M5 and Exeter, this property combines getting away from it all yet being very accessible.
• By Car: Cowslip Barn is under four hours from London
• By Train: The national rail station of Exeter is 10 miles distance, where you can arrange for a pick up or hire a car
• By Air: The international airport of Exeter is around 40 mins from the property, you can arrange a pick up or hire a car

Out and About

Apart from the immediate 30 acres of the Dartmoor National Park – the vast expanses of Dartmoor are on the doorstep with fabulous views, walks, National Trust houses, pubs and tea rooms within a short distance. 

• Walking: A fantastic base for keen walkers or those who just like a little amble.
• Adrenalin adventures: From Mountain biking (there is a freestyle park in Haldon Hill (20mins) from the cottage) to canoeing, horse riding, quadbiking and climbing, there’s lots to choose from locally. 
• Fishing: Can be arranged with local stocked lakes and most of the river Dart can be fished with permits from the Duchy of Cornwall. Salmon and trout are very popular.
• Golf: There are many courses just a stone’s throw from the cottage from the famous Bovey Castle to the super 18 hole course at the Teign Valley.
• Beaches:  Dawlish Warren is around 25 mins from the property.  Safe clean swimming, moorings and the usual seaside treats, make this a great beach that offers a bit of everything. Exmouth is around 40 minswhere a long sandy beach awaits. Popular with kitesurfers and for rock pooling too.
• For Children: The Miniature Pony Centre is around 10 mins from the cottage, whilst Crealy Park is around half an hour away.  
• Don’t forget to visit: Castle Drogo for dramatic views over Dartmoor (around 35 mins from the property); the beautiful Becky Falls (around 25 mins) and Canonteign Falls, England’s largest waterfall and a great area for picnics (15 mins)
