Luxury Waterside Cottage in Woodbridge, Suffolk
Inside
A picturesque cottage situated by the river in Woodbridge, next to Suffolk’s famous Tide Mill. Take in the tranquil backdrop of sea birds, boats and the lapping tides of the marina and Ferry Quay. Make yourself at home in the three floors of this luxury waterside retreat. Small but perfectly formed, the cottage is light-filled, with cream and sage coloured walls and antique furniture to give it a warm, lived-in feel.
- Style: Wood panelling and nautical themes create a beachy ambiance, tastefully furnished with French and English antiques.
- Bedrooms and Bathrooms: Two doubles, both with en suites and stunning views
- For relaxation: Sink into an armchair in the first-floor lounge, from where you can enjoy fantastic views of the birds and the boats on the River Deben.
- For recreation: A selection of board games provides the perfect entertainment for when weather turns nippy.
- Practicalities: There is a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and microwave at the property. Parking space for one car at rear of property but another can park nearby.
Outside
The cottage opens out straight onto the quayside, offering stunning waterside views. Boat moorings are available at the quay for your use.
Food and Wine
- DIY: The property is taken on a self-catered basis. After working up an appetite walking the local area, get creative in the kitchen at this waterside retreat. Enhance your self-catered stay by adding bubbles and chocolates, a cream tea or fresh picnic from Unique Boutique.
- Local Fare: In Woodbridge, there are plenty of places to buy fresh fish and locally sourced produce, including various delis and the Saturday farmers market (twice monthly). For top wines, we recommend a trip to Adnams Wine Cellar - just a five minute walk from the cottage - where wines are available to taste everyday (guests staying at Tide Mill View are entitled to a 10% discount on non sale purchases - just mention you are staying at Bryony's cottage!).
- Eating out: For the finest local produce in an informal atmosphere try The Galley restaurant; The Cross Vegetarian Restaurant; The Crown; The Riverside Restaurant and The Waterfront Cafe (only open in the daytime) - all located in Woodbridge.
Getting there
- On the map: The property is situated in Woodbridge, on Suffolk’s River Deben.
- By Car: About 2 hours from London.
- By Train: There is a train station in Woodbridge, just five minutes walk from the cottage. London Liverpool Street is only an hour and a half by train.
Restoration Project
The Mill adjacent to Tide Mill View is currently in the final stages of a £1.2 m project to restore the iconic Suffolk landmark back to its former glory. This exciting restoration project aims to improve the Mill’s foundations as well as to add a new wheel and wheel house, and to improve access for disabled visitors. Whilst some guests will enjoy seeing this landmark project being undertaken, we are aware that some may find the potentially noisy works a distraction.
The works to the outside of the building are almost complete, and work is now focusing on the interiors, meaning disruption should be kept to a minimum. The project is due for completion by Easter 2012.
For the duration of the works we are offering you in addition to your booking at Tide Mill View complimentary use of our Beach Hut (situated 10 miles away at Old Felixstow Ferry) and hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do.
