The Property
Once a fish store now a luxury self-catering cottage in Mousehole, west Cornwall
Inside
Set within the heart of the quintessential Cornish fishing village of Mousehole, The Fish Store, previously a pilchard packing factory has remained in the same family for the last 70 years, recently undergoing a major renovation project to bring the house bang into the 21st century.
- Style: Whilst the cottage has been modernised to include all mod cons, integral to the project has been to maintain the character and charm of the original building. Chunky beams, wooden floors and whitewashed walls providing the perfect backdrop for colourful and interesting artwork, and key design pieces.
- Bedrooms and Bathrooms: There are five bedrooms at the house. Two ground floor bedrooms, one kingsize double and a twin/superking double (zip/link) with sink. On the first floor, there are three bedrooms, one kingsize double, and two twin/superking doubles (zip/link). All have a chest of drawers and shaker peg hanging for storage. There is a family bathroom with bath and separate shower. One of the superking doubles has an en suite shower room, the kingsize double has a bath and sink in the room. There is a ground floor wet room with steam room.
- For relaxation: You'll find it hard to tear yourself away from the mesmeric coastal vistas, best enjoyed whilst reclining on the sofa or enjoying a sundowner supper. The spacious open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room is an amazing sociable space, perfect for a group getaway. Throw open the windows to let the coastal air in on balmy days, or snuggle up in front of the wood burner on cosy winter's eves. Please note: The sitting room windows are fully tilt and turn, if there are children in the group it is essential that they are supervised at all times should the windows be open.
- For recreation: Head to the ground floor where there is a 3-metre projector screen (with DVD and Apple TV for high definition movies) makes for a perfect rainy day hideaway. Complete with logburner, this spacious room is also perfect for a spot of table tennis. Complete with small kitchen area, you can keep film-nibbling snacks close at hand.
- Practicalities: There is a ground floor laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Garage parking for one car, additional long-stay parking is available a short distance from the house; a parking permit will be available for your use whilst staying at the property.
Outside
There is a small courtyard area at the back of the cottage, where there's space for a couple of deckchairs; as ideal for a morning coffee as a sundowner BBQ. Enjoy sand between toes at the harbour beach, just a stone's throw from the cottage.
