Luxury self-catering home in Ilfracombe, North Devon

Introduction

Uniting the modern man with Mother Nature in wholly refined harmony, here is a self-catering home which not only complements the scenery in which it sits, but enhances it. With a pared-back, design-led interior, this luxury cliffhanger is as much a space for families as it is for creatives wanting a blue-sky thinking retreat. Despite its stature and all-encompassing 180 degree sea views, Linea is unobtrusive in its stance, and best viewed up-close and personal where the detail can be truly appreciated.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

On the ground floor are two king-size bedrooms flaunting en suites with baths and separate showers; one overlooking the garden and the other out across the bay of Combe Martin. Upstairs are two further double bedrooms; one a king-size with en suite bath and shower. The master suite is also on this floor, with super king-size bed, dressing room and en suite bathroom with separate shower. There are two separate shower rooms with WC; one in the basement, by the cinema room and the other on the ground floor.

Outside

With an infinity pool which looks as though it could drift on forever into the Big Blue, Linea’s exteriors are perfect for those long summer days which seemingly never end. Mojitos are best enjoyed around the pool under the hot sun, a fresh sea breeze gliding in with the tide keeping things cool. If the party feels the need to roam, the South West Coast Path ambles both north and south from the property, with sweeping views and lofty precipices for adventure en masse.

For Relaxation

North Devon was made for days of lounging with toes buried in the sand, and the coastline surrounding the property is littered with secret coves and fishing villages, ice cream shops and still, turquoise seas perfect for whiling away those balmy summer days. In winter, a wilder personality takes over, and time is best spent sprawled in the open-plan living room with hot chocolates cradled in hand, sea foam lashing the windows and a raging storm stirring the clouds into turmoil overhead.

Practicalities

There is private gated parking for up to four cars. The large, well-equipped kitchen includes a Siemens double oven, large fridge, large freezer, six-ring gas hob and dishwasher. There is another, smaller kitchen in the basement next to the cinema room, with oven, hob, fridge and dishwasher. The property also has a pantry kitchen with fridge-freezer and dishwasher and a utility room with two washer-dryers. The fireplace is for decorative use only.

From the pink morning glow that cocoons the house to the seemingly endless skies, ‘magic light’ isn’t time-constrained here. Despite the pared-back minimalist interior there’s a real homeliness to Linea and its close-to-the-elements setting offers pure rejuvenation for the soul.
