Luxury Self-Catering in Dartmoor with swimming pool


Sat on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, a wealth of hiking and exploration opportunities are on your doorstep. With heated outdoor pool and rolling hills for miles, a rejuvenating self-catering stay awaits at this topsy-turvy barn which exudes a calming ambiance throughout.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Rydon has two luxurious double bedrooms and one smartly furnished twin room, all on the ground floor. All bedrooms are bedecked in fine linens, and offer a blissfully uninterrupted night's slumber in sumptuous surroundings. The master bedroom has a stand alone bath tub in the room, as well as a separate en suite bathroom providing a perfect place to pamper. There is a separate family bathroom with a walk-in rain shower for an invigorating start to the day.


Approaching the property along the mile-long private driveway, guests are welcomed to Rydon with picturesque views for miles. Set in 30 acres of beautiful Devonshire countryside, this converted barn sits in an idyllic hamlet in the Teign Valley. Pretty potted blooms adorn the gravelled courtyard al fresco dining area, whilst the sweeping lawn stretches down to the swimming pool at the far end of the garden.

For Relaxation

Dine al fresco taking in the far-reaching views of Dartmoor with nothing to disturb but the moo-ing of the neighbouring cows. Enjoy an early morning dip in the outdoor pool, or why not take the family for a long hike before returning to your abode hungry and rosy-cheeked for a delicious family supper and an evening playing traditional board games in front of the fire. Dartmoor National Park offers a wealth of exploration opportunities- don't forget your walking boots!     


There is off-road parking for three cars. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads (can be let off when down by the river). There is a washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, dishwasher and Aga. The owner lives adjacent to the property. Whilst the pool and garden are shared with the owners, guests have priority.

Discover places to see and things to do whilst in and around Trusham, Devon to truly enhance your stay come rain or shine!

Out and About Explore one of South Devon's beautiful stretches of golden sand, or take a short drive to nearby Dartmouth. Why not take a day trip into the cathedral city of Exeter and partake in a spot of retail therapy- great for the soul! 

Local Inns The Cridford Inn is Rydon's local and claims to be the oldest pub in Devon dating back to 1086 - well worth a visit.

Exeter Nearby Exeter is a cosmopolitan city offering good shopping, a great live music scene, and a wonderful arts centre too. A must visit for those with a love of culture and shopping.

On the Water An array of water sports awaits- from dingy sailing in the mouth of the river to yachting, canoeing and windsurfing. 



The well-equipped beamed kitchen complete with Aga and large central island makes a perfectly social space to self-cater and get creative and whip up a tempting supper. The owner's own farm produce (bacon, sausage, pork, beef, lamb) is often for sale at 'farm-gate' prices! Sociable suppers are enjoyed on the quirky bench-style open plan dining area before retiring to the sofas for a hot toddy in front of the fire.

If you'd rather spend your self-catering break indulging in the little luxuries, let an in-house chef prepare a mouth-watering meal for you and your party (on prior request and subject to an additional cost).

Nearby Exeter’s cosmopolitan atmosphere offers quality and variety with an enviable choice of fashionable restaurants, wine bars, bistros and coffee bars. Nearby Gidleigh Park boasts 2 Michelin stars and was recently voted number one restaurant in the Sunday Times - booking advised!
