Self-catering English coastal cottage Near Whitby, Yorkshire

As breathtaking in an angry storm as it is on the bluest of summer days, this luxury coastal cottage near Whitby rests gently between heathered moorland and the wild North Sea. Silent aside from the waves and distant seal colony’s chatter drifting on the breeze from Ravenscar, here is a home where stillness can be truly appreciated. Step barefoot on the wisteria terrace, hands wrapped around a steaming mug of tea as the sun rises over the ocean, spot dolphins playing in the surf below or spend snowy evenings wrapped in warmth, cosied together on the large sink-into sofa.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

A snug mezzanine bedroom in the rafters of Bay View provides a blissful place of relaxation, where mornings reward the early bird with gentle wildlife sightings in the fields below, and night owls with twinkling skies from the comfort of marshmallow pillows. Downstairs, the spacious bathroom includes a large bath tub, perfect for two, and a walk-in shower.

Wholesomely on the road to self-sufficiency, Bay View’s undulating coastal gardens and woodlands are so much more than glorious sweeping sea views and warm sun-trapped terraces. With well-tended seasonal vegetable and herb patches, a happy bee colony, fruitful orchard and a seemingly endless supply of berries and nuts, deliciously fresh produce (and even the odd bottle of homemade sloe gin!) are in abundance. Beyond, shy porpoises and whales blissfully dance in the swell and gannets put on the most remarkable shows against cobalt heavens.

For Relaxation

With so many wonderful spots to linger around this Yorkshire abode, it’s a wonder why anyone would ever venture far at all. While away mornings over coffee and croissants on the garden loungers before rustling up a lunch made from Bay View’s home grown vegetables and salads. If one really must leave, there are coastal and country stomps a-plenty straight from the front door, over the hills and far away. On returning from Yorkshire adventures, warm up under woollen jumpers and snuggle by the wood burner or under silver moonlight.

There is parking available for up to two cars. Bay View has an oven, fridge freezer, coffee machine and dishwasher as well as a washer-dryer. Please note that the owner lives next door in the converted farmhouse.

Style: Lofty countryside charm combines with a traditional yet luxurious flavour at Bay View. The squishy fireside sofas and cosy mezzanine bedroom provide the perfect backdrop for relaxation and luxury in abundance.

Property Owner Dawn says

Bay View is a place where time truly does seem to stand still, where each season holds it’s own beauty, where the sun rises in spectacular fashion, the skies meet the sea and the full moon glinting it’s silvery light across the bay is simply magical.
