Cubert

All Destinations UK Cornwall Cubert

Halfway down the county of Cornwall, just inland from the rolling northern coastline, this charming village offers the epitome of a fun rural break.

If you've made it this far down Cornwall, you will be ready to hit the sands, so it's lucky that this inland village is right between two stunning sandy beaches: Perranporth to the south and Crantock just north. This is Cornwall's famed surfland, and plenty of visitors will arrive with their own board but there are plenty of hire shops in the area to enable you to try out the rollers. As well as an old church and small shop, Cubert is blessed with a 16th century thatched pub, cooking up hearty Sunday roasts for post-swims.

Make the pub your start or stop point for a nice little walk to sweet Holywell Bay, known in days gone by for its holy well, in a cave on the beach. This is also the perfect spot for tipping out a carload of restless children, as it has something for everyone: golden sands, a surf school and pitch & putt at the local golf course. Walkers wanting to continue on to Kelsey Head might attempt to locate its iron age remains while keeping an eye on the panoramic coastal views, seals and sometimes even dolphins in the waters.
