Lusty Glaze

All Destinations UK Cornwall Lusty Glaze

Fresh sea air, a sweep of golden sand and sparkly blue seas: no wonder this beach was coined 'Beach of the Year' by The Times and The Sunday Times.

With all the elements needed for a perfect beach holiday, Lusty Glaze deserves its past awards, offering an arc of blissful beach life in the heart of north Cornwall's surf coast. Once a mineral mine, this is a privately owned patch of land that's still open to the public at no cost, well worth a visit for those visiting this strip of surfland. It has a restaurant that hosts live bands, a lifeguard keeping lookout during holiday season, and of course the horseshoe-shaped beach with its long strip of sand and crashing blue rollers.

Just to the north is Porth Beach; take a hike up the cliff path to enjoy stunning sea views as you walk all the way to Trevose Head (and beyond to Pentire if you have the walking bug, but remember you have to walk back again!). Aside from a few steep scrambles in parts, this well-trodden section of the South West Coast Path makes for a pleasing daytime ramble, past blowholes and lighthouses and with the odd sighting of a seal or dolphin if you're lucky. Then back to Lusty Glaze for a picnic under the stars, weather-willing.
