South Molton

All Destinations UK Devon South Molton

A thriving market town and Devon's gateway to Exmoor National Park, South Molton is a pretty little town which serves as the perfect base for rural adventures. Amble the Pannier Market and browse the antiques, lace up hiking boots and go in search of the rare Exmoor pony, or simply snack on Devon cream teas in the summer sunshine.

Luxury holidays in Exmoor National Park Far less populated than nearby Dartmoor, but far more beautiful if you catch it on a good day, Exmoor can seem like quite the formidable landscape. But when the sea mist lifts, a patchwork of colour spreads from sea to hill and back again revealing sights like no other. Along the coastline, the South West Coast Path offers some of the most spectacular cliff walking in the country while the treeless heartland is criss-crossed with over 600 miles of footpaths. Aside from hiking, Exmoor has a range of outdoor pursuits which will suit even the tiniest travellers; canoeing on quiet lakes, horse-riding over fields and otter spotting from the banks of trickling rivers.

Beaches in North Devon From Woody Bay, to Dunster and Porlock, Exmoor borders some of North Devon's most family-friendly beaches. While Minehead Beach is the usual go-to for those blistering days in midsummer heat, there are a host of small, secret coves where cerulean waters gently lap the sand. Watermouth Bay, on the western corner of the National Park, is a quiet cove surrounded by steep, leafy cliffs and offers safe bathing for the whole family. For the surfers in the mix, it has to be Lynmouth, where, when the winds and tides are right, there is a long left hand point break like no other.
