All Destinations UK Somerset Ilminster

Between Taunton and Yeovil, this petite market town is well placed to house guests keen to potter through tiny country towns, set off across the rugged greens of the Blackdown Hills, or take a short drive to the coast.

Ilminster holds a handy position in a verdant patch of Somerset right down in the south west of England, pretty much halfway between two coasts. Because it's also easily accessible by road, the location is perfect for weekenders hoping to relax with a good book, or potter along the local walkways. Community spirit in Ilminster runs high, and there are events happening throughout the year, such as the Midsummer Experience, with exhibitions, concerts, vehicle show, family dog show and obligatory rock bands.

In winter the town shows off its twinkly best with an excellent display of Christmas lights: a proper country winter wonderland. In summer, beach-goers can take the short drive south to Lyme Regis and Weymouth, two major coastal towns book-ending the sweeping West Dorset Heritage Coast, itself a magnet for fossil-hunters and shell-gatherers. For a local treat, walk or drive the short distance to Perry's Cider Mills, a craft business in a sweet thatched building, selling several different delicious flavours.
