Finance Executive

Unique Home Stays are seeking a full time Finance Executive to join our head office team based just outside Newquay. This is a key operational role responsible for the accounting and administrative processes to meet our financial and legal requirements.

Ultimately, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of our financial transactions and administrative procedures. Our ideal candidate demonstrates an interest in coordinating accounting activities, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable. You should also have excellent organisational skills and be able to handle time-sensitive tasks and work well under pressure, especially around month and year ends.

The Role

Reporting to the Central Operations Manager you will be part of a Finance and Administration team of two. Some of the key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Keeping accurate records for all daily transactions
  • Updating internal Xero accounting systems with financial data
  • Processing invoices and reconciling bank statements
  • Recording accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts and financial reporting
  • Reviewing and implementing financial policies
  • Participating in financial audits
  • Assisting with budget preparation
  • Managing internal expenses

The Person

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of relevant experience in a similarly fast paced and varied Finance team. Experience in the luxury accommodation or property industry would be an advantage. We are searching for someone who will enjoy the challenge of providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders and provide a genuine and accurate insight into the performance of the business.

Experience and Skills

  • Proven relevant work experience and success in a similar finance role
  • Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and regulations
  • Accounting qualification or degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • Experience using financial software, Xero experience would be a strong advantage
  • Advanced MS Office skills especially Excel
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills to provide insightful, accurate reporting
  • Clear communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Time management, prioritisation skills and a high attention to detail
  • Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data
  • Confident working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness

The Specifics

  • This is a permanent contract working Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm
  • You will have 21 days paid holiday plus bank holidays
  • Salary will be dependent on experience but is expected to be in the region of £22,000
