As an integral member of our Marketing Team, your raison d’etre as is to enrich and enhance awareness of the Unique Homestays property portfolio and raise our brand profile within the luxury travel market through compelling media stories. 

The Role

  • Develop and take responsibility for innovative press plans to promote properties, collections and the brand as a whole
  • Utilise the reporting systems we have in place to identify key areas of opportunity
  • Organise press trips for key journalists, including liaising with external tourism agencies 
  • Lead and improve effective press and media services including image sharing, uploading press features in a timely manner and to license perimeters
  • Create high-quality and engaging media stories, including press releases, features, briefing documents, news articles, newsletters and interviews
  • Drive our proactive media relations and secure national, regional and industry online, print, social and broadcast coverage
  • Handle press queries and prepare appropriate responses for approval, often under strict time pressures
  • Generate monthly report with analysis, identifying trends and required actions
  • Liaise with colleagues across our different teams to plan and produce copy for reports and print publications
  • Develop and maintain the media database, building relationships and seeking out opportunities and presenting ideas
  • Adhere to monthly targets for press features

  • Ensure brand guidelines are adhered to when presenting information and representing the business
  • Develop media event opportunities
  • Bring new ideas contributing to our evolving communications strategy
  • Support Head of Brand with brand partnerships, collaborations and TV opportunities

The Person

You will be an experienced and versatile individual with a track record of securing features and media coverage. You will have a minimum of three years experience in a similar role and relevant experience from within the luxury sector would be a distinct advantage.

Experience and Skills

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in English, journalism, media studies or public relations
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to communicate effectively with different audiences
  • Excellent written and articulation skills
  • Commercially minded
  • Experience of crafting engaging press releases
  • Ability to interpret statistical information and translate to written form
  • Confidence in writing for both B2B and B2C audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of industry media outlets and their requirements
  • Experience of leading proactive and reactive communications plans
  • Knowledge of how to engage public and media through variety of streams – broadcast, print and digital
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise workload according to competing priorities

The Specifics

  • This role is a full time, working Monday-Friday 9am to 5:30pm
  • You will have 22 days paid holiday plus bank holidays, and your birthday off*
  • Access to private medical cover*
  • Starting salary is competitive and dependent on experience
  • Hybrid working - Cornwall office and home based a possibility
