If you're looking for a more relaxed getaway, then Autumn is the perfect time to head to the best UK travel destinations, where you can embrace the real essence of coastal hideaways and country retreats far from the madding crowds. Treat yourself to a lazy long weekend with just your other half; hire a house party property chock full of mod cons to catch up with friends; wrap up and get active with autumn adventures or simply relax with good food in stunning surroundings. Take advantage of the out of season tariffs, whilst still experiencing the same stylish stay in your unique abode. Here are some of our seasonal favourites:

THE SAIL LOFT, Trebarwith Strand, Cornwall

Relax in this stylish country cottage with stunning sea views

Kick off the shoes: Pure romance for couples, pure laid-back living for friends: this converted barn sits atop verdant cliff pastures that gaze out to staggering coastal scenery and world-class sunsets. Sink into squishy sofas and enjoy the art of contemporary country living inside, and spill out onto the teak decking for alfresco dining and a sundowner in the fresh sea air.
Don the wellies: Set back from the rugged coast of North Cornwall, there is easy access to Trebarwith Strand – a beach made for surfing, walking and waterside pub dining. As well as the treasures of the South West Coast Path (Tintagel one way, Port Isaac the other) and a cluster of pearly sands and surf breaks nearby, you are also within easy reach of some of the county’s finest foodie haunts at Port Isaac, Padstow and Watergate Bay.
Basics: Sleeps 4, self-catering (private chef and grocery provisions available)

TIDE MILL VIEW, Woodbridge, Suffolk

A converted granary cottage at the water’s edge

Kick off the shoes:  Small but perfectly formed over three floors that climb above water-level, this cosy 18th century cottage is brimming with coastal character, nautical paraphernalia, antique furnishings and a lick of contemporary style.
Don the wellies: With a view to the marina, sea birds and the changing moods of the estuary, here you could just kick back and soak up the location from your riverside abode. However step outside and to witness Suffolk’s famous 300 year-old Tide Mill, enjoy waterfront dining options and explore the gems of historic Woodbridge at your fingertips.

SCUDAMORE COURT, Upton Scudamore, Wiltshire

Find an excuse to celebrate at this perfect weekend pad

Kick off the shoes: A fantastically characterful property that combines comfort and charm; from roaring fires to candlelit suppers, this is the perfect haven in which to idle away long winter evenings.
Don the wellies: From getting involved in country pursuits in the grounds of the house – falconry and archery can be arranged on site, shooting a short distance from the property - to a romantic hot air balloon ride, there’s plenty on offer for those looking for more than just a great house. If the grey days are getting you down, then feelgood factor is guaranteed at the Thermae Bath Spa.
Basics: Sleeps up to 12 guests; for Autumn breaks, a reduced rate is applicable for smaller groups of up to 6 guests. The house is taken on a self-catered basis, with in-house catering available.

Kick off the shoes: If you’re looking for a weekend of relaxation, where great food and elegant interiors combine, this historic home surrounded by wooded cliffside is the perfect getaway property. Take in the stunning estuary views, indulge in a plethora of delicious dishes and sink into sumptuous beds after a day of activity.
Don the wellies: From stunning castles to deserted beaches perfect for windswept walks or perhaps golf with a view, you’re spoilt for choice as to how to spend your days at Tremadog. A full Welsh breakfast will set you up for a day of exploring the local area of foot; you’ll feel you’ve certainly earned your dinner if you’ve climbed Snowdon of a day!

THE WATERMILL, Withiel, Cornwall

This cosy cottage is a haven for all seasons

Kick off the shoes: Ensconce yourself in the cosy setting of an old mill cottage nestled in the lush folds of Cornwall. With no less than 100 acres of woodland, orchards, pastures and wild flower meadows to explore, here you are guaranteed remote beauty all to yourself. And if you fancy heating up the action make use of your all-weather tennis court and croquet lawn before coming inside to a roaring log fire.
Don the wellies: From wild walks to adrenaline action, there’s plenty on offer with the Camel Trail, The Saint’s Way, the South West Coast Path, surfing beaches, golf courses and the Camel Estuary on the doorstep. And foodies wont’ be disappointed – the market town of Wadebridge is brimming with delis and cafés, the Camel Valley vineyard (producer of award-winning UK wines) is a short hop away and nearby Padstow is home to Stein’s collection of restaurants.

THE WHITE HOUSE, Tetbury, Gloucestershire

The ultimate party pad for a stylish getaway

Kick off the shoes: Stylish, cool and contemporary, this property is perfect for sharing with friends. Whether you’re looking to simply kick back and relax, use the house as a base for a shopping weekender, or maybe even a pre-Christmas detox and exercise boot camp to kick you into shape!
Don the wellies: Go back to school! Partake on a cookery course at the nearby Michelin-starred Chefs table. Explore the boutiques of Tetbury, or indulge in beauty treatments at the house (at an additional cost) Of an evening, don your winter woollies and huddle around the fire pits in the garden, marshmallows at the ready!
Basics: The main house sleeps 14 guests (additional accommodation for another 12 guests is available in adjacent properties) and is taken on a self-catered basis.
Cost: 2-nt weekend £2500, 3-nt weekend £2800, week-stays £5000 based on 14 guests. 20% reduction on prices as detailed applicable for October dates.

WOODLAND COTTAGE, nr Barnstaple, Devon

Enjoy a real back to nature experience at this country cottage

Kick off the shoes: The perfect home from home experience; from the homemade cake and goodies on arrival to cosying up around the fire of a blustery eve, this is a hideaway cottage ideal for two.
