When it comes down to finding somewhere fabulous to stay, doing your bit to save the planet doesn’t have to mean scrimping on style and luxury. Many of our Unique Home Stays incorporate eco-friendly features that lessen their impact on the environment without lessening their wow-factor. Leave your car at home and getaway the greener way, staying at one of our properties that encourages recycling, offers on-site activities, uses eco-friendly cleaning products or heats its water with solar panels. Most of our catered properties flaunt menus brimming with fresh local ingredients, and at self-catering properties arrive to hampers of local produce and organic veggie boxes (by arrangement). Of course, here at Unique Home Stays we’re doing our bit to reduce our carbon footprint too. Instead of a printed brochure, you can find all the details for the properties below, and many more,

Mill Rock, Polzeath, Cornwall
Luxury self-catering barn conversion a stone’s throw from the North Cornish coast
Set in 160-acres of farmland rolling towards the sea, Mill Rock boasts chic interiors that prove eco-accommodation doesn’t have to be dowdy. Offering a stylish haven in two beautifully decked out 18th century stone barns, once you step inside the ambience is more ‘boutique country house’ than ‘farm-building conversion’. Organic soap, wood-burning stoves and locally sourced provisions keep your carbon footprint low – but it’s the solar panels, bore hole, avid recycling and geothermal heating that really puts this in the class of a green place to stay. Taking a leaf out of their eco-book, it’s a good idea to keep up appearances by booking a train ticket instead of hopping on the plane to Newquay.
Sleeps: Up to 14 (10 in The Mill and 4 in the Cow Shed)
Cost: Per week, from £3,500-£6,000 for The Mill; £4,500-£8,900 for both properties; £1,000-£2,000 for The Cow Shed (shorter breaks available by request).
