Shoot For The Stars As the only planetarium in the Republic of Ireland, a visit to Schull isn’t complete without a marvel at the night’s sky from here. Boasting an eight metre dome, the sky projector showcases an accurate representation of the night sky from anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere. A visit to the planetarium promises an enjoyable, educational experience for guests of all ages.

Take The Scenic Route Pull on your walking boots and explore Three Castle Head, the owner's favourite place to visit for a walk through the area’s impressive landscape. With towering cliffs on one side and a large fresh water lake on the other, 12th Century Dunlough Castle is perched high on the northern tip of the Mizen Peninsula and is an exquisite example of one of Ireland’s earliest headland forts.

Mountain Peaks The traditionally Irish town of Schull sits within the shadow of Mount Gabriel, the highest mountain in the area. Standing at 1,335 feet tall, a hike to the summit rewards walkers with stunning panoramic views stretching for miles. Be sure to keep eyes peeled for evidence of Bronze Age copper mining activity, with sites found on the southern and eastern slopes.

On The Water Activities Schull is a hive of activity for watersports and it’s no wonder, due to the town hosting the annual Calves week sailing races and the world-famous 700 mile Cowes-Fastnet-Plymouth race route passing just offshore. Wander down to the Fastnet Marine and Outdoor Education Centre and learn how to sail or brush up on existing skills in the sheltered waters of Roaringwater Bay.
