The Venue

By taking hire of Scarlet Hall and its 12 acres of private estate, couples have exclusive access to the entirety of this unique country house wedding venue which promises a quintessentially romantic setting come rain or shine. Equally as perfect for small intimate ceremonies and larger affairs, this private country house can be host to any style or whimsical desire. A rustic barn for late-night dancing, space for a marquee and even a pond for dreamy wedding photos combine to ensure there really are no limits to the possibilities.

In and Around the Grounds

Settled in the heart of the rolling Cheshire countryside, Scarlet Hall has timeless romance in abundance. Wander through the meadow hand in hand, lean in for a quiet kiss under the orchard or simply take a moment to watch family and friends laughing in the sun.

The Ceremony

Scarlet Hall does not have a civil ceremony licence in place just yet, so tie the knot in one of two local churches, Shocklach or St Mary’s in Tilston or at the registry office in Chester before bringing the party back to this grand and historic home. For blessings and humanist ceremonies, lovebirds can take their pick of several stunning settings around Scarlet Hall’s grounds; pronounce sweet words of love from the balcony in the barn, celebrate in the sunshine in the midst of 80 family and friends, or simply keep nuptials to an intimate gathering before inviting the whole horde for night-long dancing.

Seat up to 80 guests in the natural barn under a canopy of twinkling fairy lights and flower garlands; if a more informal soiree is on the cards, lay trestle tables of delicate finger food and a decadent buffet of desserts for everyone to help themselves to. With grounds a-plenty to discover, there’s plenty of space for secret outdoor-living rooms sprawled under trees, treasure hunts and lawn games. Small, winter weddings will find the barn to be an intimate and cosy space to gather together, while a marquee can be put up on the lawn in summer to create more sheltered space. Carriages are strictly at midnight.

The Accommodation

Spread between the main building and separate coach house, Scarlet Hall sleeps up to 22 of the wedding party between 11 bedrooms. With the bridal party pampering, chatting and sipping bubbles between the farmhouse kitchen's exposed-wood beams and tiled floors, the groomsmen can take advantage of the pool, sauna and games room the night before and morning of the big day.

Practicalities and Pricing

A minimum three night stay is required for all weddings at Scarlet Hall. A maximum of 80 guests, including those staying in the house, are permitted at Scarlet Hall. Additional guests may be possible by prior arrangement and at an additional cost. Should a marquee be required, there is an additional fee of £1,500, plus rental charges from the chosen marquee company which should be arranged with them. Amplified music must end by 11.30pm. There is plenty of parking available in the adjacent field in summer and a smaller hard-standing area throughout in winter.

Our Take

Property Owner Chris says

The house has a lovely homely feel, it´s amazingly bright and sunny for a 17th century timber framed building! Cleverly re-designed mixing open-plan layout with traditional features, it creates a feeling of space and flow. You get lovely views from all sides from sunrises to the magnificent sunsets.

Before Let pre-wedding nerves melt away with a dip in the indoor heated pool and relaxing time out in the sauna. The night before, why not gather the whole wedding party together around the fire pit for marshmallows and a sneaky glass of fizz, before separating off to different parts of the house?

During Set up a game of boules or croquet on the lawn, have a post-ceremony table-tennis tournament (with trophy for the champions, of course) or even set up a boho den, filled with fancy dress and toys, made of tapestries and blankets strewn over trees for little ones.

After, relax into married life with gin and tonics on Scarlet Hall’s lawn, surrounded by just your closest family and friends.
