Arcalia is a Grade-II listed 300-year-old luxury farmhouse in Cornwall which has been re-imagined and brought into the modern day with a sprinkling of mod cons, a flourish of style, and a hearty dose of Cornish hospitality. This large family farmhouse in Blisland sleeps up to ten guests and, along with its 14 acres of nature-filled gardens and outdoor pool, will create cherished family memories of a time well spent.
Nestled deep in the heart of rural North Cornwall, yet not far from the popular coastal village of “Doc Martin’s” Port Isaac, this spacious luxury home stay boasts a magical location offering tranquility and rejuvenation to all those lucky enough to visit. Imagine Aga-cooked suppers after a day at the seaside and splashing about in the swimming pool until well past bedtime...you'll fall in love with this stylishly handsome farmhouse in North Cornwall and wish your halcyon family holiday could last forever and a day.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Arcalia's master suite is on the first floor with an en suite bathroom and adjoining dressing room. There is also a twin with en suite bathroom above and a king-size bedroom on the first floor, along with a large shower room. On the second floor of this luxury self-catering farmhouse are two additional twin bedrooms along with a bathroom.
There is a natural pond in the gardens to the east of the farmhouse which is home to a handsome heron, a family of moorhens and other local wildlife. The heated pool, complete with well-equipped pool house, will delight the whole family in summertime and provide a welcome refresher in the Cornish sunshine. Arcalia is on the outskirts of the traditional picture-postcard village of Blisland, which sits on the edge of Bodmin Moor and is all the more charming due to its olde-worlde English village green, CAMRA-awarded local pub and a church which John Betjeman once noted as being 'dazzling and amazing'.
Starspotters and moongazers will be drawn by the nearby beguiling Trippet and Stripple Stones on mystical Bodmin Moor which provide Cornwall's very own Henge-esque stone circles, each pointing skyward to mark the sunset and moonrise on Mayday. The bunting-strewn sun room will be a favourite spot for sunshiny breakfasts, whilst during the colder months there is nothing better than curling up by one of the two roaring fires with a book from the library. Hire bicycles and enjoy a family adventure following the Camel Trail as it wends along the old railway of the Camel Estuary from Bodmin to Padstow (enjoying paper-wrapped fish & chips on the harbour before returning of course).
There is parking for several cars. This home boasts all mod cons including dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, Bose sound system and American-style fridge/freezer. Whilst the pool and pond are a safe distance from the house, they are not fenced in. Families are advised to supervise young children in these areas at all times. Please note the conservatory has no central heating.
