Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Each bedroom at Whimplestone is effortlessly and elegantly furnished with eclectic hand-picked furniture finds, adorned with fine linens, and promises a blissful night's sleep after the day's busy adventures. There are three king-size bedrooms (two are en suite), and a choice of two twin bedrooms. The house boasts a wonderful family bathroom with claw-foot bath and hand-held shower, as well as a wet room with walk-in rain shower. The lofty king-size master bedroom has its own access from the rear garden and sitting room, as well as a stand alone bath for easing away your troubles in a tub-full of bubbles...
Whimplestone sits alongside one and a half miles of breath-taking river frontage lined with trees, towering Morwell rocks (as painted by Turner) and a beautiful protected water meadow. A private gated entrance leads through the valley at this rural paradise, where you can wander through the cherry and apple orchards and admire breath-taking scenery. The wildlife-spotting opportunities all around this UNESCO site are vast; keep eyes peeled for osprey, barn owls, spoonbills, peregrine falcons, the beautiful kingfisher and conferences of dragonfly. You might even be lucky enough to spot the shy otter fishing for his lunch on the river banks! The walled garden is a haven for the whole family to enjoy a Cornish game of Smite as the sun takes a bow and sinks behind the pines.
Summer afternoons are best spent sat by the natural pool or beside the river with a picnic of jam tarts, cucumber sandwiches and zesty homemade lemonade! There is a friendly pub a short stroll away for an evening tipple, or perhaps a game of ping pong is more your style? The sunny passage leads to a large farmhouse kitchen (a chef’s paradise!) which boasts a superb range of cook ware, Mark Newson five-ring gas burner, and a Fisher Paykel larder-style fridge/freezer with ice maker and water dispenser. Gather the family around the cherry wood farmhouse-style table in the dining room for lively family suppers retelling much-loved family anecdotes.

The Tamar Valley has a wealth of friendly pubs serving traditional dishes, good cask ales, and welcoming locals. The Rising Sun pub is a short walk away from Whimplestone for a cheeky evening tipple, whilst fine dining experiences can be enjoyed at several renowned local restaurants - we love the Cornish Arms in Tavistock, whilst 2012 Masterchef winner Anton Piotrowski serves up artfully crafted gastronomy at The Springer Spaniel pub.
