Warleggan

Whilst the crowds continue down the A30 onto their holiday destinations further down the Duchy, branch off between St Neot and Cardinham woods you will discover this magical moorland community nested on the southern fringe of Bodmin Moor.

Warleggan on the edge of Bodmin Moor The bijou hamlet of Warleggan has fewer dwellings than you could count on your fingers and toes, including a scattering of Cornish stone cottages, a sweet church and chapel famed by tales of friendly ghosts, witches and wizardry. Equidistant between Cornwall’s north and south coasts, Warleggan is a central location for exploring the best of Cornwall. Visit famous local attractions including Bodmin Jail and the Jamaica Inn (also a Daphne Du Maurier novel) or discover Cornwall’s paradise gardens, including those of Lanhydrock house, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the spaceship-like biomes of the Eden Project.

Warleggan's Poldark Fame The remote moorland hamlet recently rose to fame due to the success of popular BBC television series Poldark based on Winston Graham’s novels; ‘Warleggan’ being the title of the forth book in the Poldark series as well as the surname of one of the featured families (Elizabeth Warleggan was Ross Poldark’s first love). Literary fans can explore Poldark’s hauntingly beautiful Poldark filming locations in Cornwall whilst staying with Unique Home Stays. Perhaps you’ll choose a luxury Cornish cottage, or rustic family farmhouse with huge open fire, swimming pool and library stuffed full of old classics. Whatever you chose, the dramatic Cornish filming locations of Poldark, Doc Martin, Du Maurier and more are sure to see you fall in love with the south west of England and star in your very own holiday romance.
