The Venue

The white on white nature of Romany make its ceremony barn and surroundings a blank canvas for couples looking to create a wedding celebration which perfectly reflects their personality. Exclusive hire of this venue on Romney Marsh near Rye in East Sussex allows imagination to run free, and whether a tipi-tent reception with signature cocktails and an acoustic guitar or a marquee for a four-course wedding breakfast and string quartet, magic is sure to ensue.

In and Around the Grounds

Wind through the wildflowers on mown paths to the airstream or white picket fences, where ever-lasting photos of the couple will take on a vintage flare. With a vegetable patch and herb garden settled within the grounds, lovers can immerse themselves into The Good Life with ease; a slow breakfast of scrambled eggs sprinkled with freshly chopped chives surrounded by bridesmaids and accompanied by bubbling Buck's Fizz will be just divine.

The Ceremony

With doors flung open and a gentle country breeze washing through the vaulted barn, say sweet "I dos" in front of up to 120 guests perched beneath tangled pampas grasses and colourful peonies threaded through the rafters. After, enjoy a Champagne reception bathed in sunlight, while decadent canapés circulate and the band cheerfully strum on ukuleles.

The Reception

The options are endless at Romany; whether a white wedding marquee or blue-striped big top for festival-style gatherings, there is space and scope for a party of any style. However, this East Sussex venue really shines brightest through beautiful simplicity; string glowing festoon lights between the trees and move the festivities outside, dancing on faded Persian rugs and sipping home-brewed gin around the fire until a golden sun rises through the marsh.

The Accommodation

Sleeping just two in a romantic, reclaimed cabin, couples can sneak off at the end of the night to collapse into the four-poster bed without having to leave the premises. Indulge in a late-night hot tub under the stars as guests depart and music fades, before waking to the sound of birdsong on your first day as a married couple. On the morning of the wedding, the cabin provides enough space for bridesmaids to gather and get ready in, while groomsmen slink off to the nearest pub to ease pre ceremony jitters. Alternatively, shirk tradition and prepare for the day together, giggling and whispering along the way.

Practicalities and Pricing

There is a minimum of a two-night stay; this is inclusive of the venue hire fee. A wedding planner is a necessity at this unique wedding venue, and will ensure dreams are met, utilising their suppliers and contacts; please ask for recommendations on enquiry. There is parking available for up to 30 cars, with additional on prior request. All live and amplified music must end at 11pm, but that's not to say a raw acoustic band can't play by moonlight through to the small hours. Due to the wooden structure, candles are not permitted.
