Charity | Luxury Self-Catering Mountain Retreat | Brecon Beacons

Unique Wedding Venue in The Brecon Beacons

Run away and marry in the mountains at this romantically remote elopement wedding venue in the Brecon Beacons. Hidden deep in the Olchon Valley between the rolling pastures of Herefordshire and the heather-clad hills of the Black Mountains, Charity is just three hours from London but a world away from the everyday.

The Venue Lovers can embrace the unconventional by fleeing to this big and beautiful celebration house in the Brecon Beacons; a dream venue for those wanting to tie the knot the Bohemian way. An elopement wedding at Charity invites you to free yourself from the fuss and organisation of a traditional wedding at home by whisking the congregation away to the wilderness. Think wildflower bouquets, a barefoot bridal party, mountain top photographs, fire-pit feasting, a first dance in the twinkle of the barn’s disco ball and one huge after party under the stars.

The Accommodation Charity offers luxury self-catering accommodation for up to ten guests between five bedrooms. With an eclectic farmhouse style, this unique mountain retreat is a perfect marriage of rustic charm and colourful design. Taking exclusive hire of the house affords the wedding party a stress-free run up to the big day - all helped by an abundance of luxuries including log fires, cushy sofas, a well-equipped kitchen, snooker room, cinema barn, steamy sauna and wood-fired hot tub.

The Grounds It’s a near impossible task to find a wedding venue that can rival the divine seclusion of Charity’s romantic setting. Wrapped around a central courtyard, Charity is flanked by blankets of patchwork Herefordshire countryside to one side and majestic cloud-shrouded mountains to the other. The large barn is perfect for an intimate indoors affair, whilst guests could opt for an informal congregation in the garden, with mismatched chairs fashioned to create an aisle leading down to a flower archway.

The Ceremony Charity does not currently have a civil ceremony licence in place, so it’s ideal for those wanting to host a marriage blessing or celebration following a registry office ceremony. For brides and grooms planning a traditional wedding, a licensed ceremony can be held at one of the beautifully quaint churches or chapels in the surrounding villages prior to a reception back at the house.

The Reception Imaginative cocktails and first class catering will combine with your favourite playlist to create a beautifully bespoke day tailored to your style. Complete with festoon lighting, a crackling fire pit and canopy of stars, the private courtyard is an atmospheric arena for summertime celebrations. A marquee on the lawn will create an indoor-outdoor vibe, making the most of the setting and allowing the croquet lawn to become part of the fun and games.

The Cuisine The kitchen has everything you’ll need to cater for guests staying at the house, with direct access to the courtyard for an easy serving of wedding canapés. Hire professional chefs to cater for larger groups, or call in an expert who specialises in outdoor cooking for a flame-grilled feast on the fire pit. The barn can accommodate several tables, with up to 100 guests welcome in a marquee. Start with a Champagne arrival at the cattle grid and keep the drinks flowing, there’s no curfew on carriages here.

The Entertainment Charity’s relaxed ambience means anything goes. From harp players and high teas to barn dances and flamboyant firework displays illuminating the valley, the day is entirely yours.

The Facilities By taking exclusive hire of this unique wedding venue, guests have full use of Charity and all its facilities for the duration of the stay.

The Practicalities and Pricing There is space for up to ten cars on the private drive, with extra parking available within the grounds on request. In addition to the standard rental charges, there is a venue hire fee of £1500 and £1650 for up to 50 and 100 guests respectively. For larger weddings, please get in touch for bespoke pricing. Please note, additional toilets will need to be hired for guest numbers of 50 or more.
