Isle of Skye

Scotland’s Isle of Skye is a unique holiday destination boasting a 50 mile stretch of dramatic sea cliffs, glittering lochs, heather-cloaked moors and craggy mountains. As the second largest of Scotland’s islands, the Isle of Skye offers endless exploratory opportunities to discover this wild landscape off the West Coast of Scotland.

Walking Holidays on the Isle of Skye The Inner Hebridean Isle of Skye has long been a popular holiday destination for those who appreciate stunning scenery and remote adventures to far-flung places. Enjoy peace and quiet and the seclusion of this ‘cloud island’; take a hike to the iconic landmark of the ‘Old Man’ of Stor in Trotternish and create memories at one of the most photographed landscapes in the world. Spend your holiday outdoors, don your walking boots and pack the camera for a day walking The Quiraing to enjoy some of Scotland’s spectacular landscape - make sure you come prepared for the changeable weather! Visit Neist Point Lighthouse sitting on the Duirinish peninsula, near Glendale and indulge in the picturesque cliff-top scenery of one of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks, find a quiet spot to lay down and sit awhile watching the world go by – the perfect place for cloud watching.

Activities on the Isle of Skye Step back in time to the Sky Museum of Island Life, an award-winning attraction of old-fashioned thatched cottages offering visitors an insight into the history of Highland village life. For wildlife enthusiasts take a boat trip from Elgol or Portree to view the Cuillin Range or nearby popular islands of Raasay or Rona. Skye’s coastline is a collection of peninsulas and bays sprawling out from the centre of the island which is dominated by the Cuillin Hills. Spot golden eagles, red deer and Atlantic salmon, all of which call this rugged landscape home. For a wild sea swim then head to the Fairy Pools in Glen Brittle, these deep blue river pools are filled with clear sparkling mountain waters, whilst they can be cold, a trip to a local Scotch Whiskey distillery will soon warm the cockles. Whatever the time of year, the Isle of Skye is a magical destination and will provide long-lasting holiday memories.
