Loch Ewe

Loch Ewe is in Scotland’s wild frontier of Ross-shire known as "the last great wilderness of Europe", and is the most remote region of the UK.

Holidays in Loch Ewe, Wester Ross, Scotland A world away from the cobbled streets of Edinburgh and urban energy of Glasgow, the charmingly small village of Loch Ewe is nestled within the dramatic landscapes of Scotland's Western Highlands at the mouth of River Ewe. Loch Ewe in Wester Ross is more northerly than Moscow and St Petersburg, yet has a temperate climate due to being on the Gulf stream. Would you believe it that Loch Ewe even boasts the most northerly tropical garden in the world!

History of Loch Ewe The history of Loch Ewe in Scotland is particularly interesting; during World War 2 it was a convoy collecting point for the convoys to Russia which provided vital supplies to places such as Murmansk and Archangel. There are several noteworthy villages, hamlets and farms dotted around Loch Ewe in Wester Ross, each with their own distinct character. This loch even has its own inhabited island, the Isle of Ewe (or ‘I Love You’ as some romantics like to say!) - the perfect destination for a romantic escape or even that unique proposal.
