Rhapsody | Luxury Self-Catering Country House | Haslemere, Surrey

A utopia of surreal garden sculptures, topsy-turvy architecture and glass-like pools, Rhapsody has fallen head first through the rabbit hole and landed in the heart of Wonderland. Settled in the Surrey countryside and with a raucous history of revelry, this luxury rural escape, with outdoor heated swimming pool, yoga hut and sunken hot tub, is a self-catering retreat worthy of any Mad Hatter’s tea party.

If only walls could talk! Rock and roll to its very core, Rhapsody has been host to the likes of Genesis, The Police and Queen (who played a roof-raising charity ball here in the nineties) over the years. But the time has come for this self-catering Tudor home to grow up and settle down, to enjoy the finer things in life at a more sedate pace. Here, one can lazily flick through the dailies on a chaise-lounge hanging over the pond, sit with feet swinging in the pool while drinking sweet homemade lemonade on hot summer days and let nights slip away around the warmth of the fire in the barbecue hut, deep between the evergreens.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

With its roaring fire, private balcony and en suite with bath and massage shower, the master suite offers sumptuous relaxation after a day exploring Surrey. Rhapsody also has two king-size bedrooms, one with en suite shower room and the other with a bathroom with roll top bath and walk-in shower, along with one en suite double bedroom with bath and shower, one double bedroom in an annexe accessed by a winding, narrow staircase and a large single bedroom with additional trundle bed underneath (suitable for children only), bath and shower.

A private yoga studio hidden beneath the trees, a floating glass reading room with a log burner on the crayfish pond, even a Moroccan pool house with its own kitchen for al fresco dining; there really is nothing ordinary about Rhapsody’s 20 acres of blissful grounds. Wander between the plentiful sculptures scattered around the gardens, swim against the jet stream of the heated outdoor swimming pool or simply sink into the hot tub and let all worries of life wash away as the moon rises overhead.

For Relaxation

From large family soirees to a weekend spent pampering with the girls, this large Surrey home will suit gatherings for every occasion. A characterful country house on the largest of scales, spend days patiently watching the wildlife amble between the trees before rustling up a feast of goodies collected from Cowdray Farm Shop. Beyond the grounds, if one really is inclined to leave, gentle canals peacefully carve through southern England's rolling green hillocks, racing courses offer exhilarating days out and formal gardens (and their respective tearooms) allow quiet afternoons roaming and indulging between the heady scent of florals in bloom.

There is plenty of parking for up to ten cars at the front of the house. The kitchen includes a large fridge-freezer, under counter drinks fridge, larder, Aga, electric hob and two dishwashers. There is a beehive in the meadow and dovecote onsite which will be locked at all times. There will be members of staff on-site daily tending to the house and grounds. Please supervise children in the garden. Dogs to be kept in the utility.
