Eirianfa | Luxury Self-Catering Farmhouse | Denbighshire, Wales

Experience the luxury of time and space at this heart-stirring self-catering luxury cottage in Denbighshire, North Wales. Cradled within a peaceful valley close to the historic market town of Ruthin, Eirianfa boasts a games room with hot tub and a private lake, all set within 17 acres of bucolic rapture. Countryside devotees and cityfolk alike will find this stylish Welsh cottage to be a tonic for the body, mind and soul.

Self Catering Eirianfa in North Wales

Eirianfa is an effortlessly stylish luxury self-catering abode that embraces its traditional Welsh cottage roots, whilst simultaneously flaunting eco-friendly mod cons to ensure that luxury is king. There is much to love here such as the vast natural playground with achingly pretty views, the flawlessly romantic interiors throughout, and the floating jetty which hollers for impeccably made gin and tonics at dusk, sat atop the glassy moonlit lake. All of this, in addition to the crowning glory of the hot tub with 50" TV, pool table and bar in the adjacent barn, makes Eirianfa an oh-so-special Welsh hideaway.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Rustic French-inspired decor bedecks each of the superking-size bedrooms, creating a blissfully serene space for reflection and rejuvenation at the end of the day. One of the rooms can be made up as a twin as required. Both of the rough-luxe bedrooms share a luxurious spa-like bathroom which features a duck egg blue roll top bath with hand held shower, and a separate wet room style rain shower. The twinkly blanket of stars spied through the bathroom window from the warm bubbles is nothing short of magnificent...

Just beyond the meandering river, it is as if time stands still at this luxury farmhouse in Wales; the gentle peppering of stone outbuildings have hardly changed since the last cows were milked in them. The Jaques of London garden games, including boules, skittles and badminton, will keep the whole family entertained for hours. Lying in the low meadows with a stunning spring-fed lake at the bottom, the sprawling natural environs make you feel miles from anywhere. However, charming Ruthin (the nearest market town) is just two miles away for those who enjoy a deli-bought pastry and a barista-prepared coffee in the morning.

For Relaxation

After a day exploring the hills and vales of this magnificent corner of Wales, gleefully throw open the oak doors in the entertainment barn and drink in those heavenly views from the vantage point of the bubbly hot tub. With views like this and with so much to see and do in the surrounding hills and villages, you might find yourself enjoying an unintentional digital detox (however the house is fully equipped for those techies who still can't let go!). Relaxing fireside with a glass of local ale is a deliciously decadent pleasure you will want to keep all to yourself.

There is ample parking at Eirianfa. The laundry/utility room can be found in one of the outbuildings and comes complete with washer/dryer. The outbuildings are also home to the Biomass boiler room and log store. There is a warm shower outside in the barn. The property is well-equipped with an electric Aga, Smeg fridge and microwave. Please note that dogs are only permitted in the gated entrance hall.

Our Take

Property Owner Charles says

The first time we visited the house we could not believe how a feeling of peace and tranquility came over us. It felt as if time had stood still and we didn´t want to leave. We hope you enjoy the same peace and rejuvenation that we have tried to retain in our sympathetic renovation of Eirianfa

Out & About

Discover places to see and things to do whilst in and around Llanbedr-Dyffryn-Clwyd, Wales to truly enhance your stay come rain or shine!

Snowdonia Snowdonia National Park covers 838 square miles and is one of three natural parks found in Wales. With its formidable mountain shield, the landscape is breathtaking and unique. There are nine mountain ranges here and they cover over half of the national park’s surface. Some of the peaks reach over 3,000 feet (915m).

Chester The Roman city of Chester is just an hour away and has a bevy of boutique shops and eateries, as well as historic sites of interest such as the old fortified Roman wall and amphitheatre. Chester boasts spectacular scenery, magnificent gardens and a great range of fascinating tours and walks meaning that there is plenty to explore. The idyllic rolling hills and sweeping valleys of the surrounding countryside offer plenty of opportunity for both rejuvenation and exploration.

Up and Away As the Llandudno Cable Cars glide silently from Happy Valley to the summit of the Great Orme, 679 feet up, you can take in the jaw-dropping panoramic views of the Bay of Llandudno, the Little Orme, the Conwy Estuary and miles out over the Irish Sea. Look down on the beautiful gardens of Happy Valley or glimpse the action at the Llandudno Ski and Snowboard Centre. A return journey is less than 20 minutes and there is café at the top too.

White Waters Visit the UK's only natural white water centre at Llangollen Outdoors, a multi activity provider nestled on the banks of the River Dee in Llangollen. The site has been a hub for outdoor enthusiasts and rescue trainers for over 25 years and offers a range of water activities including rafting, tubing, gorge walking, kayaking. For those who prefer dry land, they also offer archery, off roading 4x4s and Nordic walking tours.

Doorstep Adventures Being located in such an extraordinary location, there are walking opportunities aplenty starting right from the front door! The owners recommend a stunning scenic walk through the farm and woodlands leading to the top of Moel Famau country park (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), the highest and possibly most beautiful point of the Clwydian Range.

Medieval Magic Why not try something a little different when staying at Eirianfa, and experience a medieval feast in a 16th century castle? At Ruthin Castle (just two miles away), revelers assemble for the partaking of bread and salt (age-old symbols of hospitality). Enjoy the jest and evening’s feasting with daggers and fingers accompanied by a toast of mead and a goblet of wine.

It doesn't come more country chic than the farmhouse kitchen at Eirianfa. The spacious open plan dining area boasts beautiful honey stoned walls accompanied by a cream Aga that will keep you toasty in winter whilst you whip up scrumptious stews. Be sure to try the farm shops and delicatessen's near by; Rhug Estate comes recommended, with hand selected organic and local products on offer, while John Jones and Sons can deliver top quality meats straight to the door.

In-House Cuisine

If you'd rather spend your self-catering break indulging in the little luxuries, let an in-house chef prepare a mouth-watering meal for you and your party (on prior request and subject to an additional cost).

Eating Out

The abundance of coastal villages and charming market towns nearby means that opportunities to sample the freshest local produce around is endless. Try the Michelin starred Tyddyn Llan in near by Llandrillo for a formal tantalizing taster menu, or On The Hill in Ruthin- one the areas best kept secrets.
