From the owner

“The extensive gardens add to the special magic at Pelsham Manor; guests can weave a path through the overgrown archways and find solace underneath the old apple tree. No matter the weather, no matter the occasion, the atmosphere has always been incredibly relaxing with a true sense of luxury.”

From the owner

The Scott family, who were keen cricketers, built the house in 1923 as an extension to a Victorian farmhouse. For the build, Tom Scott employed the architect Charles Oldrid Scott, his cousin and grandson to the prominent Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott. At about the same time the family formed the cricket ground and built a pavilion, which is just in front of the manor’s main gates. Here the Scotts headed up a team that played against the West Indian touring sides as the opening fixture of their tours in the 1930s.

The manor was gentrified in the 1950s and 60s by the then owner Samuel Messer, an important collector of 18th century English furniture and clocks and it now stands as a handsome country manor. After Samuel Messer passed away, we were fortunate enough to acquire the property in 1994 fulfilling a lifelong dream of mine to have a beautiful home in the wonderful English countryside. I then spent two years modernising the manor to make it the very comfortable, modern home it is today.
