Bedrooms and Bathrooms

After a fun-filled day exploring the coast and country near Little Otterling, climb the unique 'pig's tail' staircase to the bright and airy king-size bedroom, where cloudburst pillows and the softest duckdown duvet promises an uninterrupted night's sleep with only the distant hoot of the woodland owls to disturb. Within easy reach of Cornwall's coast and moors, the Tamar Valley is a very special corner of Cornwall where the friendly villages and stunning natural surroundings create a blissful olde worlde charm all of its own. Sit awhile and listen to the birds twittering in the trees and watch the fish making their way upriver at this haven surrounded by wildlife. This luxury self-catering cottage is surrounded by wild meadows and sheltered by the valley; days are best spent sunken into the cosy sun loungers on the sophisticated slate patio area outside with a glass of Cornish cyder, before the sun bids adieu and sinks behind the woods.

Take a journey from the historic quay at Cotehele into the wilds of the upper tidal limits before returning to your riverside hideaway for a romantic candlelit supper. In winter months, explore the rugged tors and valleys of the Cornish moors and end up talking into the wee hours with a glass of red by the fire. There's no better place to relax than surrounded by the Cornish countryside.

Out & About

Discover places to see and things to do whilst in and around Gunnislake, Cornwall to truly enhance your stay come rain or shine!

Buckets and Spades Beach-lovers are spoiled for choice in the nearby South Hams, which is famous for its beautifully diverse, award-winning beaches that stretch from the River Dart to Wembury (near Plymouth).

Don Your Walking Boots For those with a penchant for adventure the wild and rugged tors of Dartmoor are right on the doorstep, whilst those preferring slightly less exertion will love to enjoy gentle ambles along the meandering river Tamar.

Adrenalin Junkies Try the purpose built mountain bike tracks which will hurtle you through woodland at top speed, or have a go at archery or tree surfing with a professional course just five minutes from your door. If rock climbing is your thing visit the Climbing Barn where you can also clamber across boulders.

National Trust Cotehele House and Gardens is five minutes from Little Otterling and makes for a great day out. The Tudor house is festooned with tapestries, textiles, arms and armour to evoke the imaginations of all the family! Saltram House in Plymouth was home to the same family for nearly 300 years, and still displays the original contents providing a fascinating insight to country-estate life.

On the River The river bed is privately owned by a fishing consortium unfortunately, however the nearest place is Endsleigh where you can get individual day passes to fish on their bank. The 14th October is the last day for fishing, recommencing 15th March. Hire canoes for all the family from Cotehele Quay and experience the delight of gliding in a silent boat in some of the most beautiful scenery in the country; past steeply sloping woodland, old quays, mine chimneys, farms and boatyards.

Culture Vultures Sterts open air theatre, gallery and studio is a short drive away and is a 'must visit' for those who are curious to experience a production under the stars. There is a bar, many events throughout the year, and you might even be lucky enough to visit when the BBQ is sizzling too!

The well-equipped open-plan living and kitchen area creates a social space for cooking a romantic supper for your loved one using the freshest of local produce. The small table and chairs provide a sweet place to sit and reflect on the day's adventures over a hearty meal with a glass of something delicious.

In-House Cuisine

If you'd rather spend your self-catering break indulging in the little luxuries, let an in-house chef prepare a mouth-watering meal for you and your party (on prior request and subject to an additional cost).

Eating Out

The Tamar Valley has a wealth of friendly pubs serving traditional dishes, good cask ales, and welcoming locals. The Rising Sun pub is not far away and comes highly recommended! For a fine dining experience there are several renowned restaurants for a genteel afternoon tea or a decadent supper nearby.
