One day deep in rugged north Cornwall, the charm of a miniature showman's wagon sparked the imagination of a local man who embarked on a mammoth four year project replicating the model vehicle – only ten times the size! Nomad marries two luxury gypsy wagons with a rustic bothy via a secret tunnel in a secluded location near Widemouth Bay, offering the ultimate unique self-catering retreat for two in Cornwall.

Nomad started life as little more than a daydream. Spurred on by a conversation in his local pub one evening, a Cornish craftsman had everything he needed to create his design masterpiece; materials from the landscape, support from the locals and a vision to create the most unique self-catering retreat in Cornwall. The remains of a 17th century bothy carved into the hillside near Widemouth Bay was the perfect starting point. Nomad's traditional bohemian style combines with luxuries such as the slipper bath, open fire and hot tub; resulting in a hobbit-like house you might only expect to find in a fairytale.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Two 12-foot gypsy wagons (hand-crafted in the elaborate style of 19th century showman’s vehicles) form the bedroom and bathroom at Nomad. These are linked to the cottage-style living area via a short secret passageway scattered with sheepskins. The bedroom features a super king-size bed and small dressing area, whilst the bathroom flaunts WC, basin and cast iron slipper tub looking over the rolling Cornish hills.

Nomad is set in its own paddock where wild hares, songbirds and fluffy white sheep paint a scene of rural bliss. If you can tear yourself away from your luxury love nest, you'll find Cornish pasty shops, fudge parlours and two postcard-perfect beaches in the closest town of Bude. Widemouth Bay, two miles away as the crow flies, is a stunning sandy beach perfect for a day of ice creams and shoreline strolls hand-in-hand with your beau. Evenings in the hot tub looking out for shooting stars will ensure you'll never want to leave.

For Relaxation

The kind of home you wouldn't be surprised to discover seven sleeping dwarfs inside, Nomad has magic and intrigue sprinkled in every nook and cranny. From pulling open the front of the wagon to feel the fresh country air on your face when you wake, to evenings spent snuggled beside the open fire; the sense of being a million miles from home is sure to have all your troubles melt away like snowflakes in the sun.

Nomad has parking for two cars. The kitchen includes a double gas cooker with grill, a microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher and fridge with freezer drawer.

Style: With its Cornish roots and Bohemian charm, Nomad is a medley of different styles. Reclaimed finds, natural materials and quirky artefacts are stamped all over this hobbit-style home like a well-travelled passport.

Our Take

Property Owner Jan says

We love the novelty of these luxury wagons and the part-underground living area. It all has such a warm comforting feel to it. Once you go inside, light the open fire and nestle down you feel cocooned and protected from the worries of everyday life. A real escape in a beautifully secluded valley.
