From the owner

“The extensive gardens add to the special magic at Pelsham Manor; guests can weave a path through the overgrown archways and find solace underneath the old apple tree. No matter the weather, no matter the occasion, the atmosphere has always been incredibly relaxing with a true sense of luxury.”

From the owner

The Scott family, who were keen cricketers, built the house in 1923 as an extension to a Victorian farmhouse. For the build, Tom Scott employed the architect Charles Oldrid Scott, his cousin and grandson to the prominent Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott. At about the same time the family formed the cricket ground and built a pavilion, which is just in front of the manor’s main gates. Here the Scotts headed up a team that played against the West Indian touring sides as the opening fixture of their tours in the 1930s.

The manor was gentrified in the 1950s and 60s by the then owner Samuel Messer, an important collector of 18th century English furniture and clocks and it now stands as a handsome country manor. After Samuel Messer passed away, we were fortunate enough to acquire the property in 1994 fulfilling a lifelong dream of mine to have a beautiful home in the wonderful English countryside. I then spent two years modernising the manor to make it the very comfortable, modern home it is today.

Guest Testimonials

Wonderful property in a fantastic location, the gardener was very helpful and had good local knowledge. We will definitely return.

Our stay was fantastic. We were absolutely more than happy at the Pelsham Manor. The service was great, the towels were fluffy, and we had a warm welcome from the house manager. The freshly baked muffins were delicious, everything was more than perfect! We would love to come again very soon.

We have had the most wonderful birthday weekend with our friends staying at your beautiful home. It was such a pleasure to be surrounded by the impeccable and tasteful decor and surroundings. The garden and grounds were stunning and we had a marvellous day with the gamekeeper, who showed his love of falconry with us. The exquisite attention to detail didn´t go unnoticed as we wanted for nothing. We have certainly enjoyed country living at its best. To the owner, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Pelsham Manor is a fantastic house. The rooms are beautifully proportioned and everything was of the finest quality. It is very special yet feels like a home. The owner made us feel very welcome.

What a fantastic house, we have had a ball. A weekend was far too short! Every comfort and need was provided for, with many lovely personal touches. What a great way to celebrate at your lovely house and enjoy your wonderful gardens- a real sense of occasion! We are all sad to be leaving, thank you so much for making us so welcome and for the comprehensive guided tour

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. We only had one problem... it wasn´t long enough! We hope to come back soon. A huge thank you to everyone for making it so perfect.

We are having a great family vacation. Great weather, a superb spacious and luxurious house, wonderful surroundings and everything we could wish for. A dream place and we will be back.

So deliciously cosy, we felt spoilt as if staying in a luxury hotel. Loved all the views from each window: pond life, rabbits and all the beautiful roses and peonies. Thank you so much for all the things for our children - they were beyond excited finding the DVD hamper in their room and loved the tractor and the bikes, they have definitely become hooked on tennis. There were stunning walks all around.

We are enjoying our stay immensely. We could almost have delusions of grandeur playing croquet on the lawn and tennis (albeit it very badly!) in a private garden court. The views and gardens are all splendid and the history of the house itself interests us enormously. In addition to loving the house and grounds at Pelsham Manor, we have enjoyed visits to Rye and Battle, Winchelsea and Dixter.

The extra touches were superb and really appreciated. The property was stunningly dressed for Christmas and extremely warm and comfortable. We had a wonderful week celebrating my mother´s 80th birthday and couldn´t have asked for a more perfect venue. It was very special to be able to meet the owner too, and hear first hand about the house. All in all a fabulous experience, thank you.

We have had a great time - beautiful weather, beautiful location and what a wonderful house. Thank you.
