Snow Goose | Luxury Self-Catering River House | Bosham, Sussex

Snow Goose

Bosham, West Sussex, UK

Proudly sat at the head of the creek with south-facing views over Chichester harbour, Snow Goose enjoys a waterside position near the attractive West Sussex village of Bosham. Style aficionados, sailors and fisher folk will relish time spent at this luxury self-catering home that exudes all the elegance and tranquillity of the swans that glide alongside it.

A warm welcome awaits at this luxury self-catering waterfront property in West Sussex. An idyllic family holiday base, Snow Goose is spacious, stylish and peppered with mod cons for all generations. If you can pull yourself away, a 40-minute walk through the fields to Old Bosham will be one for the tick list with its treasure trove of quirky boutiques, artsy shops and quaint tearooms. One of the prettiest villages on the south coast and steeped in history, Bosham is thought by many to be the birth and burial place of the last Saxon king- Harold, King of England. And if it's good enough for Royalty...

Flaunting creamy tones, rich furnishings and quality finishes, every inch of Snow Goose breathes elegance and class. With space for socialisation and reflection, there is somewhere for all. Come together in the dining room and share tales of the day over a family meal as the light fades through the windows and candlelight licks the room. Later, the cinema room will be a favourite amongst the younger generations while the grown-ups gather in the living area with fire crackling. Sleeping nine, each of the five first-floor bedrooms are bedecked in super-soft linens and the fluffiest bedding.

The enclosed gardens provide an idyllic sanctuary for adults to recline with an afternoon tipple whilst the children play happily alongside. A haven for birds, the keen-eyed will notice a vast number of species. When the high tide covers the mud flats, all mud-feeding birds retreat somewhere quiet to rest and preen, while ducks and geese rest on the water surface or ashore. Keep eyes peeled for the proud heron, cheeky coots and the lesser spotted red-breasted merganser in this stunning Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. And don't miss the Chichester Yacht Club sailing regatta in early June!

From the owner

“For us, Snow Goose´s location is unsurpassed. Sit and while away many hours simply watching the waterfowl on the lake and the sailing boats bob by. Don´t forget to enjoy a deep soak in the bath with views to die for too...”

From the owner

Snow Goose has been in the Graham family for over thirty years and there are many pictures around the house of Hector and Shirley Graham - my parents - sailing Hector's boat The Mystery in Bosham creek in the 40s and early 50s.

We know that there has been a house on this site for many years. You can find a small picture of a cottage in the kitchen, dating from the turn of the century. In those days it was a fisherman's cottage and the smaller neighbouring Cutmill cottage was occupied by oyster fishermen.

There is a legend that King Canute's apothecary lived on the site - which would not be entirely absurd since King Canute's daughter is buried at Bosham Church. Amusingly for the family, when Hector Graham bought the house, he was the CEO of an international pharmaceutical company!

In the early 1980s, the family added the annex, sun room, kitchen conservatory, and upstairs balcony, as well as planting lots of roses (spectacular in June). A priority for us during the recent renovations was to add a completely new central heating system, including two of the finest boilers in Sussex.

Guest Testimonials

We have loved our stay here! We haven´t been so lucky with the weather but even so, the beauty of this spot is great in all conditions; especially with the tide coming in and out, transforming the landscape from one second to the next. The property has such a lovely feel with all the light and space. We´ve enjoyed long walks with the dog too. Thank you!

Snow Goose is a gem of a place. The paddleboards were a big success and we would highly recommend West Itchenor Boat Hire. It´s such a stunning location; we loved it, thank you!

A lovely family holiday in a perfect house! We are aged 7 to 71, got stuck in the mud, walked for miles and watched the sunrise and set. Such a wonderful time was had by all, thank you!

When searching for a dog-friendly place to stay, we just loved the look and location of Snow Goose. The house is so lovely, every room has a special feel and we used them all with great comfort and happiness! The entire weekend was just so lovely, and in anticipation of storm Ciara, Unique Homestays called to reassure me where emergency candles were... very thoughtful! The house and surroundings are so lovely, we’re already thinking about returning.

Snow Goose completed our unforgettable days in Bosham celebrating the wonderful wedding of our dear friends. The house is perfect, and movie landscape moments will live here forever in our hearts!

We love Snow Goose, it is such a fabulously, sociable space and had everything we could have wished for and more. A very thoughtful welcome hamper was provided too. The location is great, and we spent a lot of time looking out at the estuary with a glass of wine or cup of tea in hand. All in all, a fantastic weekend break!

We have had the most wonderful family weekend in your beautiful house celebrating my birthday, with every creative comfort catered for. I can honestly say that I have never seen my family all so relaxed at the same time. Thanks again.

What a beautiful spot to celebrate Grandad´s 70th birthday. The boys loved paddling in the creek and we spent a very enjoyable afternoon exploring Arundel Castle. Manky thanks for sharing your beautiful home.

We had an amazing time at Snow Goose and will definitely return in the future. It is beautifully equipped, in a fantastic setting, and the location is very convenient. I already miss looking out over the creek - such a treat; the fact it was tidal made it very special indeed. Thank you to the owners very much, and to Unique Homestays for letting us stay.

A lovely house which was just perfect for three families. We enjoyed ourselves even with the terrible weather and we cannot wait to visit again when the sun in shining!

Thank you we had a lovely time. It is the third time we have rented Snow Goose and it is just a beautiful house in lovely surroundings and we always have a great time. The owner is very accommodating and responds quickly to any questions, all being well we will be looking to come back next year.

We have had a wonderful family reunion in your super stylish and ultra comfortable house. The weather has been glorious and we have spent most of the time reading in the garden, enjoying the truly spectacular views. This is a most relaxing setting and we all wish we could stay longer! The acoustics in the kitchen were perfect for long lazy evenings listening to jazz!

An excellent house for a birthday with family from Edinburgh, London and Brighton all coming for New year. We could not have chosen a better place to celebrate and the location is unbelievable. Many thanks for a memorable stay.

We had a wonderful time and the views were amazing. The house has been designed so well that everyone had space to be together or on their own if they preferred. Beds were so comfortable, I have even text the owner to ask her where she gets her duvets and bed sheets from! Everything was perfect, even my hard-to-please mother adored the place & suggested that we come again for her birthday next year.

A lovely property that is well presented and maintained. Nice touches were the binoculars and the bird book. We were really grateful for the welcome text from the owner which enabled us to arrive a little early, very much appreciated.

The most beautiful setting for a Christmas photo shoot! Snow Goose is a fabulous home. We have loved staying here and Hillier will take pride in the photos taken at the house. Thank you so much.

Wow, wow, wow! We have been blown away by not only our surroundings on the harbour but by Snow Goose itself. We have had an amazing stay here for the week. It´s given us a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time together as a family in a relaxing and idyllic setting. Our three children have also loved it. A particular highlight for us all was attracting and feeding 32 Swans!! Our eldest daughter (aged 6) has asked if we can buy a house just like Snow Goose near to Swans. We certainly hope to be back in the future. Thank you so much.

We have enjoyed staying in this marvellous house with stunning views. It is such a joy to be able to share and enjoy this wonderful part of the country. We have had a mixture of the best and worst of British weather. Wonderful food and wine and lots of laughter. We could ask for no more, thank you!

Snow Goose looked perfect with all its views, and when we got there we saw that it really was perfect! We spent hours admiring the view, the birds, the swans and the moving tide. We also had that warm homely feeling you get when you stay in a real family home. This was beautiful and comfortable property; we would come back in a heartbeat!
