Tucked away behind rolling fields on Cornwall’s long-lost, forgotten Roseland Peninsula, lies a luxury abode with a black pitched roof where beautiful simplicity and natural materials echo the outside world. Modern luxury self-catering home near Portloe, Cornwall

Built with the finest craftsmanship, not far from the pretty fishing village of Portloe, Heidi is a modern hideaway where one can perfectly master the art of idleness. A place where swinging in hammocks in the summer sun is highly encouraged; where romantic soaks in the outdoor tub are on every day’s agenda; where gently letting the weekend run away while sharing a bottle of wine by the ancient olive tree is time ever-so well spent.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

With doors leading straight out onto the private patio and outdoor bathroom, the master bedroom is a cool escape with hues of grey and flourishes of bright florals. The bunk room, perfect for little ones, has three bespoke wood and copper bunks; one single and two small doubles. If all three are required, this can be arranged on prior request. Both bedrooms share the ground floor family shower room with WC.

Pretty cherry trees and ripe plums sway between the glowing festoon lights of Heidi's front garden, while the heady scent of lavender soothes and refreshes the air. For those who like to make the most of the great outdoors, there's both a wood-fired salt water hot tub along with an outdoor bath and shower. If the call of the coast summons you to its shores, sweet little Portloe flaunts a Mediterrean-esque sandy beach at low tide, while the South West Coast Path offers unrivalled views across this little-travelled area of Cornwall.

For Relaxation

Celebrating the best of coast and country, Heidi embodies pure relaxation. Wander Cornwall’s gentle south coast, ambling from tea room to pub, beach to clifftop, savouring cream teas and local treats as you go. By night, fire up the woodburner and cook up a storm in the bespoke kitchen, before creeping under the soft covers to sleep deep dream-filled sleep of coastal adventures.

There is parking for up to five cars on the drive and next to the patio. The made-to-measure kitchen includes an electric oven and induction hob, dishwasher, fridge and two-drawer freezer. If you do require the third bunk bed, this can be arranged on prior request.

Our Take

Heidi has been lovingly converted from the ground up to provide immediate relaxation in the Cornish countryside. You can escape for a bit of space in the eight acre field and amble to the coast path straight from home. Sitting in the outdoor bath at sunset is an absolute must for every guest.

Out & About

Discover places to see and things to do whilst in and around Portloe, Cornwall to truly enhance your stay come rain or shine!

Towns and Villages The Cornish fishing villages of Portloe, St. Mawes and Portscatho are a short drive away and great to explore. From regattas to carnivals and mini festivals, the annual village celebrations are all rather quaint affairs, well worth getting involved in when on holiday in the Roseland.

Exploration Take a trip across the water on the King Harry ferry, taking in the sights and sounds of Cornish river life. Trelissick Gardens lends itself as much to a Swallows and Amazons day out with the littles as a tranquil setting for a leg-stretching walk. As great for nature-watching as enjoying home-made delicacies in the garden café.

The Cornish Riviera Cornwall's pretty south coast has long been dubbed the 'Cornish Riviera', a tribute to the verdant landscape, sheltered coves and crystal clear waters that make it so unique. In summer the bustling fishing villages are quite a hot spot for visitors, so embark on an adventure to discover the lesser-known areas!

Nearest Beach Carne Beach, a large idyllic stretch of open sand is just 2 miles away. Pendower is 2.6 miles away, and Porthcurnick is 5.

The unique Scandi-style kitchen is a bright space for families to cook together, and is perfect to rustle up a feast in of freshly caught seafood and soft bread baked that morning. Enjoy al fresco dining in the summer using the Argetentian Asado grill for authentic fire-cooked flavour, and comforting roast dinners around the dining table in winter.

In-House Cuisine

If you'd rather spend your luxury break indulging in the little luxuries, let an in-house chef prepare a mouth-watering meal at Heidi (on prior request and subject to an additional cost).

Eating Out

There are certainly no lack of gorgeous places to eat on the Roseland Peninsula, and within a mile of the cottage are two pubs which excel in both atmosphere and food; The Ship Inn offers giant portions of pub grub by an open fire, while The Lugger serves fine seafood accompanied by an extensive wine list. Of course, no visit to this part of Cornwall is complete without a dining experience at The Hidden Hut at Portscatho. Book ahead for one of their famous feast nights, and absolutely do not miss!
