Luxury self-catering accommodation in Mawgan Porth

Halfway up the run of north Cornwall stretching from Crantock to Treyarnon, Mawgan Porth sits in the dip of a hairpin bend of coastline, perfectly tucked inland. The nearby beaches are plentiful; Porthcothan, Treyarnon, Watergate, Harlyn, Constantine and family-friendly Porth, all of which are within easy reach. However, you won't need to move once you've settled on the sands at Mawgan Porth; windbreaks and ice creams abound here all summer, and the beach road has a sprinkling of boutique shops alongside a welcoming inn.

Up the valley road leading away from the beach is sleepy Mawgan, a tree-dappled, village-green idyll with shop, pub and school. Newquay airport is a hop, skip and jump away but you wouldn't know it, as you stroll toward the picturesque pub. Coastal tracks run the length of Cornwall, and you can amble north all the way to Padstow, taking in beautiful Bedruthan Steps (stop for a cream tea in the clifftop café at Carnewas) and wild Trevose Head, with its breathtaking views and lighthouse, a popular spot for many a nesting bird, as well as summer visitors.
