Fisherman´s Cottage Retreat

Fisherman´s Cottage Retreat

St Ives, Cornwall, UK

Coming soon...

A seaside escape for modern-minded folk, this luxury fisherman's cottage was designed for those seeking solace in the art mecca of the South West. Wake-up in crumpled white linens to frontline views of an empty Porthmeor Beach, get lost in the winding backstreets of St Ives and drink-in all that this intoxicating coastal retreat has on offer.

As popular a pilchard harbour as it was for those in search of intellectual and artistic freedom, St Ives has been at the core of Cornwall's arts scene since the early 1900s, when luminary figures such as Barbara Hepworth migrated here for the magical light quality and faraway appeal. The town has become a honeypot for visitors but, like Hepworth's sculpture gardens, there are still small areas of quietude to be found - this beachside retreat being one of them. Beneath its slate roof, the serene Grade-II listed cottage and its four bedrooms encompass a gentle blend of white crumpled linens, original floorboards and piles of interesting books.

Adding splashes of coastal vintage style, Alfred Wallace prints hang in frames on the walls in the open-plan living area, which also features reclaimed science lab kitchen cabinetry. While summer days are for sunbathing on the sand and searching for starfish in icy blue rockpools, there's also a woodburner and snug for cooler months. Outside, the cottage's rugged pink facade is perfectly in-keeping with its first-in-line position fronting Porthmeor Beach, evoking images of strawberry ice-cream sundaes on the balcony (St Ives' Moomaid of Zennor has been voted the best in the county) and early sunrises, when you'll have the beach all to yourselves.
