There are several centres to visit; the old mill town of Staveley, and Kirkby Lonsdale, with a weekly market and bustling heart. Walking is the best-known activity around here, but there's angling, fishing and nature-spotting, as well as shopping down the tiny streets of the towns – all from the comfort of a luxury holiday home.
