Luxury self-catering accommodation in the Quantock Hills

Britain’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1956, the Quantock Hills is an inspiring destination made up of heath, combe and coast where walkers and nature lovers will be in their element.

Measuring just 38 square miles, this AONB in northern Somerset is a small but mighty hillocky land where fossil-rich coast meets soaring vistas and deep, tree-filled valleys. Poets Coleridge and Wordsworth, two of the greatest poets of the Romantic Movement, penned some of their greatest work while wandering the Quantock’s coast paths, woodlands and hills. With such a varied terrain, cyclists and hikers of all abilities are guaranteed a rewarding escape into Mother Nature.

It’s not all heart-racing activity here though; on the coast, children will relish in spending hours combing the beaches for fossils, while National Trust property Fyne Court offers gentle walks, seasonal family activities and a trusty tearoom serving coffees and cakes. And of course, no British staycation is complete without local fare en masse; think cosy thatched inns, bistros laden with deli meats and homemade cakes large enough to share between four (but too delicious to even contemplate).
