Private Garden Wedding Venue in the Cotswolds

Boasting all the hallmarks of a quintessentially English country home, this exquisite private garden wedding venue in the Cotswolds has a honeyed stone façade and elegant interiors along with a tennis court and croquet lawn within its two acres of immaculate landscaped gardens.

The Venue Burcombe House is a private wedding venue in the Cotswolds set within two acres of expertly-preened private gardens not far from Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. Couples can look forward to a relaxed setting for a beautiful countryside wedding with a difference; elegant interiors and two acres of glorious Eden-esque gardens will impress guests, whilst the posh and pastoral village of Woodmancote is where the Queen is said to enjoy tea with friends. And if it’s good enough for the Her Majesty...

The Accommodation Those fortunate enough to experience the unique setting and genuine warmth of a wedding held in a private and exclusive venue will wonder why they ever considered anywhere else. Burcombe House can sleep up to 12 guests which cultivates a beautifully sociable run-up to your big day where everyone can muck-in and help with perfecting all of those crucial final details. There are three double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, a twin room, two further double bedrooms which share a family bathroom, and a shower room next to the gym on the ground floor.

The Grounds The immaculately manicured gardens (complete with tennis court, croquet lawn and cricket area) offers the perfect stage for creating cherished photographic memories of your special day. Choose to make your grand entrance underneath the pergola with the heady scent of flowers accompanying and carried on a gentle summer breeze. Guests will be wowed by the kaleidoscopic majesty of the private established gardens where milling about with a glass of bubbles among the butterflies and bumblebees will be a simply splendid way to toast the happy lovebirds.

The Ceremony The house does not currently have a civil ceremony licence in place, but the surrounding area boasts some beautiful churches and chapels where a licensed ceremony can be held. Alternatively, our specialist humanist wedding celebrant Zena can help you to arrange your dream humanist ceremony in the grounds of Burcombe House - please enquire further.

The Reception The house and gardens here at Burcombe House provides couples with a fresh canvas upon which to create the wedding of your dreams. Once you have gazed into your betrothed’s eyes and said ‘I do’, invite family and friends to join you in your choice of marquee out on the lawn where up to 100 guests can feast, dance and celebrate until the wee hours. For smaller intimate ceremonies choose from three gorgeous dining areas; the formal dining room, spacious kitchen or beautiful outdoor terrace.

The Cuisine and Wine Perhaps the ambrosial countryside vibe will inspire you and you'll take great pleasure in sourcing the finest Gloucestershire cheeses and locally-produced artisan ciders to satiate your guests. Or maybe the sporty bon vivant ambiance will inspire you to serve up a delectable high tea of strawberries, home-baked scones, the sweetest homemade jam and dainty finger sandwiches…Whatever you choose you can be assured that the wedding you create will be personal to you and exactly how you always envisaged your big day.

The Entertainment Whilst adults mill about with mini cones of fish n’ chips and chilled fluted fizz, little ones will be kept suitably entertained indulging themselves in the treasure chest of garden games which includes croquet, boules, cricket stumps and table tennis. For the evening celebrations choose a husky blues singer or lively folk band to ensure that the dancefloor is never still, with a fragrant lamb-roast sprinkled with fresh rosemary providing the finger-licking accompaniment.

The Facilities The outdoor clay tennis court will help to calm fractious nerves in the build-up to the big day itself; gather members of your bridal party and host your own mini Wimbledon with free-flowing Champagne for the plucky winners! There is a well-equipped gym for those last minute pre-wedding workouts with cross trainer, running machine, rowing machine and power plate offering stress-busting opportunities a-plenty. Burcombe House has a cosy snug with wood burner, chunky oak beams and vaulted ceiling for you to use as you wish; perhaps a nice escape for aged uncles and nattering grandmas to take some respite away from the whirl of the big day with a fireside cup of Rosie Lea.

The Practicalities There is ample parking for up to eight cars outside the property. Caterers, wedding stylists and florists can be recommended on request. Extra tables and chairs may need to be hired in (at extra cost), depending on your personal requirements. Fireworks are not permitted and all music is to end at midnight. The owners can erect a small white marquee in the courtyard for drinks receptions on request (at additional cost).
