Silverlake House and its attached neigbouring two properties are the last houses in the village before the unmade road winds up to the fells and the Old Man of Coniston. The bright white interiorscape and Smeg appliances as you step into the kitchen entrance will inspire both design aficionados and culinary whizzes alike. A staircase from the kitchen leads to an elegant sitting room with woodburner, well-stocked bookcase and magical views. Coniston Water is just a short drive away, so enjoy a leisurely Victorian steam yacht tour and take in the dramatic scenery all around.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
The ground floor king-size bedroom oozes with sophisticated grown up glamour; there is a Victorian fireplace, Liberty lighting, a deep roll-top bath under the window, and an en suite shower room for more modest souls! On the third floor at the top of the house is a second king-size bedroom, which enjoys its own sitting area and shower room on the floor below. Lull yourself to sleep counting shooting stars through the skylight, and enjoy a restful uninterrupted slumber until morn....
The gate in the garden wall leads to the hidden terraced garden surrounded by mature woodland and views towards the surrounding fells. Don't forget to pack the walking boots! Coniston Water is the third largest lake in the Lake District and just a mile from Silverlake House. The Furness Fells offer walking opportunities a-plenty, whilst the romantics among you will covet the waterfalls and beautiful picnic spots for which this area of the Lake District is renowned.
Fisherfolk and yachty types will be spoiled for choice with the plethora of on-the-water activities on offer, whilst bookworms will delight in visiting the area where Arthur Ransome and Beatrix Potter took their literary inspiration. Winter eves are best spent snuggled by the fire enjoying a mulled wine and buttered crumpets.

Whether you crave a high end fine dining experience, or a more relaxed gastro pub lunch, there are numerous places to eat around the Lake District and the surrounding towns and villages. The Drunken Duck Inn serves imaginative food in a relaxed atmosphere, L'Enclume in Cartmel has two Michelin stars and is ranked as the number one restaurant in the UK.
