Luxury self-catering accommodation in Flushing

Built along a network of west Cornwall inlets, this village has a strong maritime history, facing the sea and just opposite the busier port of Falmouth. Boating enthusiasts moor up here for peace, quiet and topnotch seafood.

With its feet firmly in the waters of the Penryn River and rows of houses facing out to sea, this 17th century town has attracted maritime characters throughout the decades, including many captains whose homes are still standing. Now it's a sleepy village with a heart, the perfect place for a restful break with pubs, shops and lots of local character. Hikers can take the trail across the headlands to the tiny village of Mylor, about an hour away, where a Celtic cross was discovered in the pretty parish church; worth the stomp just to wander through the pretty churchyard.

In summer, Flushing's streets are decked with bunting and the roads lined with guests who come to enjoy Regatta Week, a packed-out series of events such as tub-racing, crab catching, wild swimming and sandcastle-building. Book early to ensure a space during this busy time! With so many places to stop along the river, sailors often drop anchor for a spot of lunch around these parts. Don't have your own boat? No need to worry, just hop on the local passenger ferry for a pleasant pootle across the river to Falmouth, where connecting services will take you even further afield.
