You may as well finish off the visit with lunch at the Barn restaurant, before heading to Perranporth or Newquay for an afternoon well spent on the sands, or further south to the cathedral city of Truro, with its cobbled streets, boutique shops and museums. The cathedral is one of only three in the UK flaunting three spires, and it's free entry for anyone wishing to get a closer look, plus a variety of concerts are performed all year round. Detour via St Agnes on the way back for a wander around the compact yet pretty village with its quirky shops.
