Saphir Beach House | Luxury Self-Catering | Mawgan Porth, Cornwall

A soothing escape on top of a cliff at Mawgan Porth, Saphir Beach House is a relaxed self-catering retreat where the fresh sea air will cleanse the mind and ease the soul. Gaze out across the horizon from the hot tub, cook al fresco in the outdoor kitchen and quietly chatter, faces glowing with the flush of the fire pit, as the sea laps the sand and stars twinkle above.

Self-catering beach house for hire in Mawgan Porth, Cornwall

Simple and timeless, Saphir Beach House is awash with cool blues and fresh whites, perfectly mimicking the breakers below on Mawgan Porth beach. Invitingly carefree and with eyes facing out to sea from each perfectly appointed room, this luxury clapboard home embraces bare feet and salty hair with enthusiasm. Outside, the shifting weathers and changeable ocean create a dramatic backdrop for open air living while soft feathers, thick sheepskins and sink-into sofas provide a comforting hideaway from winter storms.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Beneath the mermaid green chandelier and up the stairs are Saphir Beach House’s four bedrooms, all with sweeping sea views. The white-washed king-size master is a calm oasis, one bunk room (suitable only for children) and two further bright double bedrooms offer sweet lullabies to the sound of the waves. A separate WC and bathroom with small bath and handheld shower reside on the first floor with an additional family wet room on the ground floor.

Saphir Beach House was designed with a life outside in mind and with steps leading straight from the garden to the beach, there really is no need to venture too far. After a morning of playing in the surf, return to the clifftop for a soak in the hot tub before firing up the barbecue in the outdoor kitchen and serving up a feast under the glitter of festoon lights. As the skies darken, wrap in jumpers and huddle around the fire pit, mulled apple juice warming on the flames.

For Relaxation

Go in search of giants with a 30 minute hike along the South West Coast Path to Bedruthan Steps. Fabled to be the long lost stepping stones across the bay for the resident giant, the enormous sea stacks which form the steps offer Instagram-worthy views. After traversing the steep climb down to the beach and back up again, stop in the National Trust café for a slab of cake worthy of any giant and wander back for an evening settled on Mawgan Porth beach. If the weather coming off the sea is truly wild, hunker down in the television snug and gather around a board game and bottle of red.

There is parking for four cars on the private driveway. The modern kitchen includes an electric oven, hobs, fridge and dishwasher. A washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer are available in the utility room area.
