Unique Homestays Corporate Social Responsibility
Unique Homestays Charity Commitment
We believe our responsibility as a business extends beyond providing restorative escapes. That's why, following every booking, we make a donation to a chosen charity – ensuring a portion of our commission supports a meaningful cause. We also invite our guests to contribute, making every stay an opportunity to give back. There are so many inspiring charities out there, and we're proud that our team at Unique Homestays continues to support causes that create a lasting impact.
"Together, by lifting others – whether through opportunity or comfort – we can help shape a better future."
Sarah Stanley, Founder
Lendwithcare and Children's Hospice South West
In 2025 we are proud to support two inspirational causes: Lendwithcare and Children's Hospice South West.
Lendwithcare

Lendwithcare is an initiative of CARE International UK, providing life-changing opportunities for people in low-income countries. By offering loans, they help individuals launch or grow their small business ventures, enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods, improve their communities, and work their way out of poverty with dignity. Entrepreneurs supported through Lendwithcare come from diverse backgrounds, from farmers and shopkeepers to artisans and tailors. This programme resonates with our founder, Sarah Stanley, who began Unique Homestays as a single mother with a modest loan.
To support this initiative, Unique Homestays will donate £1 per booking to help build brighter futures.
Children's Hospice South West

Quality time with loved ones is at the heart of everything we do. That's why we're proud to share that, following a team-wide vote, we'll also be partnering with Children's Hospice South West, a charity dedicated to providing care for babies, children, and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as support for their loved ones. Their three hospices offer tailored therapies to enhance well-being, including hydrotherapy sessions and sensory gardens, alongside counselling and bereavement support, end-of-life care, and memory-making activities like short breaks away.
Eddie Farwell, who founded CHSW with his late wife Jill, passed away this March in what is the 30th anniversary year of the charity's first hospice. To support their next chapter, our team is fundraising, starting with Newquay's Rainbow Run, and encouraging guests to donate at checkout.
The Brain Tumour Charity
A cause very close to our hearts at Unique Homestays is The Brain Tumour Charity, which we partnered with last year in support of our beloved friend and colleague, Clare. Diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in February 2024, Clare sadly passed away in the May.
"Sunshine in human form", Clare was an indescribably warm, kind, and selfless member of our team. We were privileged to work alongside her, and we remain committed to ensuring her legacy lives on.
Through our partnership, we have proudly raised £10,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity, helping to fund vital research and support for those affected by this "forgotten cancer." The charity is the world's largest dedicated funder of brain tumour research. Their goal is to double survival rates and halve the harm brain tumours have on quality of life by 2030.
Deeply cherished by her husband, Nick, and son, Olly, they supported us in sharing the Better Safe Than Tumour campaign to raise awareness of symptoms. In the spirit of community, compassion, and united support, we also shared The Brain Tumour Charity's donation page. Relying 100% on voluntary donations, they couldn't fund their vital work without the generosity of people like you.
In memory of Clare Mountifield, May 1975 – May 2024.
UNICEF: Ukraine appeal

In light of the crisis in Ukraine, we donated over £10,000 to UNICEF's Emergency Ukraine Appeal between March 2022 and May 2024. Supporting UNICEF helped to provide families with clean water and healthy food, ensured child protection services could continue to run, and delivered lifesaving supplies to support children and their parents, along with many other avenues of support for those suffering as a result of the conflict. To read more about where those donations went, head straight to the UNICEF Ukraine Appeal page.
Rewilding Britain

Between September 2019 and March 2022, we forged a meaningful relationship with Rewilding Britain where, for every booking made, we donated to help the restoration of Britain's fragile eco system. In the 30 months in which we supported this progressive charity, over £12,000 helped create new channels for rewilding projects to connect with educational resources, along with supporting two pioneering reports which influenced the government's Nature for Climate fund. For more information on where our donations have gone and what impact they have had, read: Why every booking with Unique Homestays counts over on the journal.
