Daydreamer | Luxury Self-Catering Beach Hut | Whitsand Bay, Cornwall

Daydreamer

Freathy, Whitsand Bay, Cornwall, UK

Ever dreamt of your own private clifftop retreat complete with bubbly hot tub and never-ending views out across Barbadian blue waters? Daydreamer offers just that and so much more, but without the long-haul flight. Blissfully set on Freathy cliff in 'Cornwall's forgotten corner', this luxury self-catering beach hut overlooking Whitsand Bay is as seaside chic as they come.

Introduction

Once home to a salty Sea Captain and lovingly passed down through his family for many decades, the newest generation have opened the doors of this luxury self-catering beach hut to offer others a slice of their seaside sanctuary. Daydreamer is sublimely set on Freathy cliff in Whitsand Bay, one of Cornwall’s lesser known holiday destinations, with unspoilt sea views as far as the eye can see. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows blur the boundary between inside and out, filling the living area with natural light and giving the feel of a blue-sky summer zephyr all year round.

Inside

The wraparound glass front and elevated position give this spacious beach hut a luxury penthouse feel. Step down into the double bedroom and be tempted into the cloudlike bed scattered with fluffy pillows and soft throws. Next door sits the en suite shower room complete with WC, basin and heated shower rail; a perfect place for post-beach pampering. Taking full advantage of the views, the living area offers sofas set alongside floor-to-ceiling windows and a backdrop of soothing coastal tones - a calming oasis in which to sit for hours contemplating the complex beauty of the ever-changing horizon.

Outside

Atlantic winds bring changeable weathers and here azure views can fast turn to moody skies. There’s nothing like storm watching from the steaming hot tub under a canopy of stars; sipping on a flute of Cornish fizz and feeling the salt spray on your face will lift you onto cloud nine. A beach hut holiday hotspot for years, Whitsand Bay has lost none of its vibrancy. The three-mile expanse of golden beach is certainly spectacular, but the real treasures lie in the hidden gem coves dotted nearby. Scamper down to Sharrow Beach or Polhawn Cove for a skinny dip and beach fire all to yourself.

From the owner

“As you step into the main living area, the vista of the sea stretching the total panoramic concourse of this majestic coastline from Looe Island to Rame Head gives you both morning sun and amazing sunsets. It´s during the winter months when I find these views most spectacular and invigorating.”

From the owner

The chalets on the cliff top were originally constructed in the 1940s when Plymouth was being bombed in the Second World War and residents of Plymouth were evacuated to the clifftops for safety. The chalets to house them were built from driftwood and anything useful washed up on the beaches at that time.

Our father was evacuated to this chalet as a child to be brought up by Uncle Ern (a naval Sea Captain at that time) and his wife Chris. The chalet has been in the family ever since and passed down through the generations.

We have wonderful memories as children of midnight fishing on the beaches, followed by singing to the accordion round a fire before trekking back up the cliff with gas mantles to light our way.

After approximately 75 years it was high time that the cabin was brought into the 21st century and this is how it evolved. I hope that you enjoy and take as much pleasure from Daydreamer as ourselves and our families have had over the generations!

Guest Testimonials

What a magical stay we had in this little cabin! We cooked, saw the sights, went to the beach, and visited the local villages. Our dog, Bailey, loved it too! Thank you so much!

Talk about a room with a view! We came here for some much needed quiet time away from work and the phone and found total peace, a lovely hideaway, and a view that you can never get used to! It´s stunning. We had the most incredible 30 degree weather and spend as much time on the beach as the tides allowed; walking, swimming, and meeting the lovely locals. A total piece of heaven!

A truly beautiful and special place! A surprise getaway for my 30th birthday and after an amazing few days, I also became a fiancée! What better place than Daydreamer could there be?! Stunning views, a hot tub under the stars, and pure relaxation. Perfect!

Breathtaking! After a few very hectic and stressful weeks re-planning our wedding on medical grounds, we needed somewhere to re-charge and relax. We couldn´t have found a better place! Well rested and ready for what lies ahead, we will be back! A truly spectacular place to be with my new wife.

This has been one of, if not the best holiday we have ever been on. The view is to die for! Daydreamer is a lovely little chalet, equipped for every occasion and every meal! Thanks for a lovely holiday.

We have had the perfect week! Long walks on the beach, sunsets, days where we did not leave the comfort of Daydreamer and some lovely trips out including, Looe, Polperro, Rame Head, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and also the Coddy Shack is a must!

Had a wonderful time. We really got to make the most of the property as the weather was great. The views was stunning. Would love to return and would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

We had the perfect honeymoon in this beautiful hideaway. Long walks on the beach in the evening with beautiful sunsets, delicious meals at the Finnygook Inn. Wish we could stay at Infinity for ever.

We celebrated our special day earlier in the month and came here for a couple of days to start our honeymoon in Cornwall. Our wedding was small and perfectly formed. Daydreamer is small and perfectly formed. it was absolutely fabulous and we loved it.

Daydreamer was a fantastic home to wind down in after a manic few weeks leading up to our wedding. Irrespective of the time of day, the view is absolutely priceless. We couldn´t have asked for a better place to spend our first few days together as a married couple.

The only place I long not to leave! It has been magical in every weather. We love Polperro and Cawsand plus magnificent Rame Head - a beautiful walk up to the derelict chapel with views to die for. Cornwall is our new favourite place.

Wow... This really is the most beautiful home from home! Gorgeous, unspoiled views, a very unique special location and the most wonderful surroundings. Thank you for an amazing holiday, we don´t want to leave.

We had the most wonderful weekend at Daydreamer. It was a weekend I will treasure forever. It is such a stunning location. I am counting the days until we return. Thank you!

This beautiful place has given us the perfect spot for our honeymoon. Quiet, peaceful and secluded with absolutely stunning views. We have enjoyed sunsets, stargazing and relaxing in the hot tub. We also took a surf lesson just down on the beach below. Wonderful memories. Thank you!

Staying here as an addition to our honeymoon has ended our wedding celebrations perfectly. You cannot beat waking up to that view each morning! We ventured out to the local villages nearby and thoroughly enjoyed Cawsand with its small harbour. Everyone here is so friendly and it is such a beautiful spot. Amazing!

Just "wow". Thank you so much for letting us enjoy a relaxing stay your incredible family holiday home. We will certainly be back (if we can find a gap in the calendar)!

I´ve stayed up at Whitsand Bay on several occasions but this beach hut really is something else; easy to access, spacious and with a real private feel. Their brand new hot tub is the cherry on the top! It meant we could enjoy the fresh seasalt air and to-die-for views whatever the temperature was outside. I would say I´d recommend Daydreamer to everyone I know, but I don´t want anyone else to discover my new favourite hidden gem holiday home! Thank you Unique Homestays.
