As featured on George Clarke's Amazing Spaces, Moontide is a luxury self-catering beach hut tucked into the cliffside at Whitsand Bay in the “forgotten corner” of Cornwall. Look forward to lazy mornings under the covers gazing out to sea, long days on the beach and al fresco suppers by the chiminea beneath a blanket of twinkling stars.
Whether looking for a perfect proposal, a refuge for relaxation or simply a spot to inspire the soul; Moontide ensures an unforgettable coastal getaway for couples and singles wanting to indulge in some precious ‘me time’. This luxury self-catering beach hut hugs a prime cliffside position overlooking the beautiful expanse of Whitsand Bay in South East Cornwall. Beneath the charcoal cladding, a sumptuous Scandi-style interior provides a cosy space in which to sit back and watch the ocean.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
This chic chalet comprises an open-plan living area, cosy double bedroom and wet room with walk-in shower and WC. Pull open the French doors to hear the sounds of the ocean and let the sea breeze tickle your senses, rousing you from a dreamy night's slumber. Laid-back mornings are best spent spying on soaring peregrines and dolphins playing in the surf from the comfort of your luxurious king-size bed.
Dubbed its "forgotten corner", enjoy the austere simplicity of a traditional Cornwall where the fishing villages and unspoilt beaches are secret hub for those wanting to escape the county's busier parts. Moontide’s wrap-around deck is the perfect vantage point from which to admire dramatic seascapes. Let your partner cook up the catch of the day on the barbecue while you recline on the sumptuous daybed and watch the sun melt into the expanse of sparkling ocean.
If you can tear yourself away from the seaside, head to the utopian gardens of the ancient Port Elliot estate with a picnic of cucumber sandwiches and champagne. It is believed Napoleon once cast his gaze across the land as he sailed into exile and hailed it ‘the most beautiful place in England’. Wander through the labyrinth, read a book beside the river and don’t miss its acclaimed bohemian literary festival in the summer.
Ample parking is available on the cliff top. Please note that the property is a steep uneven walk down from the car parking space and similarly from the property to the beach, which may be unsuitable for the less-able. Access directly to the chalet involves some steep uneven steps with a handrail. The kitchen has an electric oven hob, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher. The washing machine and dryer are in the shed on the deck.

Be inspired by the wealth of local Cornish produce available nearby and get creative in the well-equipped kitchen. What better way to get a taste of the sea than to make a trip to the local fish mongers and pick up the catch of the day to fry up for an alfresco feast on the wrap-around deck with those enviable views out to sea?
If you'd rather spend your self-catering break indulging in the little luxuries, let an in-house chef prepare a mouth-watering meal for you (on prior request and subject to an additional cost).
