Sat atop a lush green valley with views stretching over the rolling hills to the sea beyond, Waterstone Barn near Widemouth Bay is a beautiful self-catering property not far from the North Cornwall coast. The recently renovated topsy-turvy barn boasts both a Finnish-style sauna and summerhouse meaning guests can slip into the relaxing Cornish way of life all year round.
Through winding, wildflower countryside lanes stands Waterstone, a luxury self-catering family home just two short miles from the white sands and crashing waves of Widemouth Bay. This stylish former cow byre is part of an old Cornish smallholding, and enjoys blissful seclusion with only the gentle moo-ing of the distant cows to disturb. With the sleepy village of Marhamchurch and the bright and breezy coastal town of Bude just around the corner, the local area offers an abundance of activities to keep the whole family entertained whether rain or sunshine.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Both bedrooms are light and luxurious, with beds dressed in fine linens and silk-filled duvets to ensure an uninterrupted night's sleep. The elegant super king-sized bedroom with en suite shower room delivers distant sea views across the rolling fields, whilst the charming king-sized bedroom enjoys a private en suite bathroom, pretty pastoral vistas and access to the patio outside.
After a day spent exploring the cliff top coast paths and stomping the steep Scrade valley, return to your seaside-chic haven to unwind in the Finnish-style wet sauna (whether you choose to go proper Scandi-style is entirely up to you!). Rinse salty wetsuits and sandy toes in the outdoor shower before enjoying a classic cream tea on one of the sunny patio areas and an afternoon snooze in the summerhouse to truly embrace your serene Cornish escape.
Pack the wicker hamper basket with cucumber sandwiches, jam tarts and homemade lemonade, and discover a sheltered picnic setting in the buttercup and daisy fields close by. The luxurious first floor living area offers a relaxed space to kick back and admire the views. Cosy-up by the crackling wood burner after a crisp country walk with a bottle of full-bodied red and warm up from toes to top!
There is ample parking for two cars. The property is well-equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer, fridge freezer, and an electric hob oven. The friendly owners live adjacent to the barn but won’t cause any disturbance. Adults should take note that there are wide open slate stairs inside and stone steps outside, where young children should take extra care.

FOOD AND DRINK
Impress family and friends by cooking up a storm in the open-plan family kitchen/diner before retiring outside for a peaceful al fresco supper using the finest of local fare under the stars. The owners breed rare Oxford pigs and can provide guests of Waterstone with free range sausages and bacon (at a small additional cost)- perfect for sizzling on the BBQ!
If you'd rather spend your self-catering break indulging in the little luxuries, let an in-house chef prepare a mouth-watering meal for you and your party (on prior request and subject to an additional cost).
Overlooking Summerleaze beach in nearby Bude, the location and the cuisine of our family favourite restaurant 'Life's a Beach' are as fine as any in the world. One of the best restaurants in the beautiful fishing village of Port Isaac (half an hour away) is The Harbour, priding itself on using the freshest local produce and fish straight off the boats in the harbour!
