Introduction

Nestled within the wilds of rugged Dartmoor amongst a sprinkling of ancient farmsteads, rustic-cosy pubs and private wild swimming spots sits this luxury Grade-II listed self-catering cottage, the last in a trio of chocolate box homes tucked down a country lane in the pretty Devon village of Drewsteignton near Chagford. An enchanting refuge which casts a spell of romance on all who enter, be prepared to return home giddy in love.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

At the top of the little set of cottage stairs sits the elegant king-size bedroom, where plush linens and cloudsoft pillows encourage long, drawn-out lie-ins and breakfasts in bed. Adjacent lies the light-filled shower room whilst along the corridor is the luxury spa room, the cherry on the top of this sweet-as-pie cottage, perfect for long soaks by flickering candlelight (glass of Champagne in hand, of course!) after a day’s Dartmoor adventures.

Outside

Through England’s kaleidoscope of weathers and seasons, Sojourn’s dreamy cottage gardens offer a calming and private oasis from blazing heat, howling winds and the rest of the world. In spring, the beds and borders burst into colour and scent, scrambling in a cacophony of hues over high walls to the sky. Come summer, chase the sun from lounger, to swing seat, to picnic blanket, relaxing to the sound of the trickling fountains. While autumn and winter bring cooler days, the flower house (a bespoke Chelsea Flower Show buy!) is the most wonderful hideaway to enjoy Dartmoor’s soft winter magic over a steaming mug of cocoa.

For Relaxation

Following a day of rambling the wooded trails of the River Teign, only stopping to cool off in crystal clear lagoons, indulge in a delicious supper at The Old Inn, just a few minutes stroll down the road from the cottage. With tired legs and full tummies, retreat back to Sojourn, strike up the fire and prepare for an evening of holiday bliss. The spa room even has a massage table, so the village’s expert therapist can be booked for the ultimate at-home pamper experience.

Practicalities

There is courtyard parking with a private walkway to the cottage. Sojourn has a Rangemaster, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, Champagne fridge, freezer and washing machine. A dryer is also available.
