Cinnamon Cottage is a thatched luxury self-catering cottage in the quaint village of Higher Ashton in Devon. With the traditional thatched roof crowning the elegant and intriguingly beautiful interiors within, family holidays in the rolling Devonshire countryside have never looked so tempting...
With chunky traditional exposed beams, mullioned windows and luxurious fabrics throughout, this former 17th century alms-house has been beautifully restored to create a stylish luxury self-catering abode with a welcoming ambiance throughout. Idyllically situated in a sleepy village between the Teign Valley and Haldon Hill, Cinnamon Cottage is fairy-tale Grade-II listed property which sits up high boasting far-reaching views "o'er the hills and far away..."
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Simple understated elegance is the theme throughout the bedrooms. One spacious bedroom has an en suite cloakroom, whilst the additional double bedroom and the smartly-dressed twin room each have views out across the gardens to the rolling hills beyond. The two double bedrooms are accessed by one staircase, and the twin room by another meaning that children can enjoy midnight giggles away from listening adults. There is a stylish modern family bathroom on the ground floor which has a wet room shower, as well as a deep stand alone tub for soaking those weary bones after long stomps in the countryside!
The sweet cottage gardens provide a peaceful spot to recline in summer months; take your ease on the quirky beanbags and watch the white fluffy clouds passing by overhead with the melodic peal of the church bells providing the soundtrack to your day. In Springtime the Teign Valley is covered in wild snowdrops, bluebells and daffodils and is a fantastic base from which to explore Dartmoor and the magical waterfalls in Devon.
The dramatic and wild Dartmoor National Park offers a wealth of exploration opportunities seeking out ancient burial sites and climbing the craggy tors- just don't forget your walking boots! After a day's adventures return rosy-cheeked to your luxury abode and recall much-loved family anecdotes in front of the crackling fire. In summer months the beautiful South Hams beaches will prove perfectly placed for a good old fashioned day at the seaside.
There is off road parking for up to two cars on the driveway. The cottage is well-equipped with washing machine, electric Aga and fridge freezer. Please note that there is very limited mobile phone reception at the cottage and some may find the ceiling beams in the dining room quite low. Both bedrooms are accessed by winding staircases.
